2 Yantai University

 Founded in 1984.

 A member of "Project of Prestigious Universities in Shandong Province”.

 Co-established by two prestigious universities of China— and .

 Located on the shore of the Yellow Sea, less than one hundred meters from the coastline, Yantai University is truly a seaside University.

 With more than 30,000 students, Yantai University is a comprehensive university with 10 disciplines: culture, science, engineering, law, agriculture, medicine, economics, management, education, and art.

 In 1998, Yantai University was authorized for postgraduate education.

 In 2004, Yantai University won the Award of Excellence in the Undergraduate Teaching Qualifications Evaluation organized by the Ministry of Education.

 In 2011, Yantai University was successfully selected by the Ministry of Education for a distinguished engineer education program.

Chinese Language Training (Foundation Program)

 As one of the first Universities approved to accept foreign students in China, Yantai University has hosted students from over 30 different countries and regions.  Yantai University has achieved a complete teaching system in international education , teaching management, and diverse extracurricular activities.  All the staff have experiences of teaching abroad and outstanding knowledge of Chinese language, literature, and pedagogy.  International students are put in different classes according to their Chinese level in order to create an effective teacher-student interaction in an active class atmosphere. International students have access to a full set of advanced equipment and complete language labs.  HSK Training Programs are provided regularly.

Yantai University has a pleasant international student residence hall on campus. Dormitory room includes beds, private bathroom, water heater, heating, TV, table, chairs, bookcase and other daily necessities and facilities, including a full set of bedding.

9 Scholarship

Chinese Government Scholarship(CSC) We are one of the universities of the Chinese Government Scholarship--Chinese University Program. It is a full scholarship for designated Chinese universities and certain provincial education offices in specific provinces or autonomous regions to recruit outstanding international students for graduate studies in China. It only supports graduate students.

Freshmen Scholarship 1. Students will get half of the first year’s tuition back if they register on time and pay the tuition for one year or more. 2. Students can be exempt of 20% of the tuition if they study for half a year; they can be exempt of 20% of the second semester’s tuition if they continue to study in the second semester. 3. Students can be exempt of the first year’s tuition if they have certain HSK certificate within period of validity (HSK 5 for bachelor students and HSK 6 for postgraduate students). 4. Students can get freshmen scholarship again if they change from language students to bachelor students.

Outstanding Students Scholarship 1.Special Award: 100% of the tuition for the top one student of each grade. 2.First Award: 50% of the tuition for the top 20% students of each class. 3.Second Award:30% of the tuition for the top 20%~60% students of each class.

HSK Award Students who attend HSK Band 4, Band 5 and Band 6 at our university and get 180 points or more will be awarded RMB200-400.

Academic Improvement Award: RMB 500 for students who have achieved great improvement in their study..

Recreation & Sports Award: RMB300-3000 for students who actively participate in recreation and sports activities.

10 Application: The applicant can apply by email, or come to the university personally or by his entrusted person.

Undergraduate Student Eligibility  High school graduates or present college students.  New HSK Level-4 with 180 points or above for applicants of non-Chinese majors.

Postgraduate Student Eligibility  A Bachelor's degree or above  New HSK Level-5 with 180 points

Application Materials  Copy of passport  Application form (fixed samples)  Scanning copy of high school diploma and transcripts, or a certificate from the University you are currently studying at  HSK certificate (if you have one)  Two recommendations from professors (for postgraduate applicants only) Note:  If you have work history, proof of work experience related to present employment with unit stamps from the previous unit you served should be provided.  If there are children under 18 years old or your spouse accompanying you, the birth certificate or marriage certificate notarized by the Chinese embassies or c onsulates should also be provided.

Application Processing and Applying for a Student Visa  First, the University will examine your application materials.  If accepted, the University will send you a “Letter of Acceptance” and “Visa Application For Study in China” (JW202).  The applicant student need to go to the nearest Chinese embassy or consulate to apply for a student entry visa with the “Letter of Acceptance” and “Visa Application For Study in China” (JW202) . Students should register on time, according to the time noted on their “Letter of Acceptance”.
