“PIAF, HYMNES A LA MÔME” AT THE BEACON THEATRE, NEW-YORK

The concert will be shown on the Saturday 12th October on TV5MONDE at 8pm UK time.

Honouring the 50th Anniversary of the death of Edith Piaf and the 1st Francofolies music festival in New York, TV5MONDE as event partner of the event is to broadcast the programme on all TV5MONDE signals across the globe. The programme “PIAF, hymnes à la Môme” contains the entire tribute concert performed on the 19th Sept at the Beacon Theatre in New York, plus behind the scenes footage, interviews with artists performing on the night and archive footage and interviews from friends of Piaf.

A multitude of French and International music artists will be on the stage at the Beacon Theatre to perform live and give tribute to “la Môme” who was a frequent performer on the stages in the Big Apple. With François Xavier Demaison as master of ceremony, Piaf’s best loved hits will be performed by top names such as; Jean-Louis Aubert, Zaz, Emmanuel Moire, , Camélia Jordana, , Patricia Kaas, Coeur de Pirate, Madeleine Peyroux ,Beth Ditto, and Alex Hepburn...

The objective of TV5MONDE is to promote Francophone culture around the world, and as such the channel is delighted to give international exposure to the first Francofolies Festival in New York and additionally to honour the event by producing their own special edition of the music programme Acoustic featuring special guest Patricia Kaas. Also available will be a mini site dedicated to “la Môme”

PATRICIA KAAS SINGS THE MUSIC OF PIAF IN ACOUSTIC – TV5MONDE - Saturday at 9:30pm

Patricia Kaas, a worthy successor to “la Môme” for people the world over, will perform the best loved Piaf hits chosen from her latest album Kaas chante Piaf. Three years following the release of her album Kabaret, in last September Patricia Kaas released her newest album (Kaas chante Piaf) in tribute to Edith Piaf. Patricia Kaas is one of the most famous contemporary French music artists outside of and has sold 17 million albums and more than 48 countries visited whilst on tour.

PIAF ONLINE In October TV5MONDE, in partnership with the NAI, will create a special online site with web and mobile apps all about Edith Piaf with songs, videography, and photo gallery to allow fans old and new to discover this legendary figure in French music.
