UNI PRESIDENT, DR. CONSTANTINE W. CURRIS Dr. Constantine W . Curris assumed the Presidency o f the University of Northern Iowa in August, 1983 . He is only the seventh chief executive in the University 's 113-year history. Prior to assuming the UNI Presidency , Curris served 10 years as president of Murray State University in Kentucky . The University's new eight-million dollar student center is named the Curris Center. Other professional experiences include serving as Dean of Students al Marshall University and Vice-President and Academic Dean of Students at Marshall University and Vice-President and Academic Dean of both Midway (KY) College and the West Virginia Institute of Technology. Curris received a bachelor's degree magna cum laude in political science from Kentucky in 1962. He received a master's in political science and public administration from Illinois in 1965 and his Ed .D degree in higher education from Kentucky in 1967. Curris serves as Trustee of Midway College, Director of American Hu manics and as a member of the Center for the Study of the Presidency's National Advisory Council. He recently served as Chairman of th e- Iowa Task Force on Teacher Education and Certification and was a charter member of the National Small Business Development Center Advisory Board . He is a member of the Iowa Future Project; and is on the Board of Trustees of First in the Nation in Education/Iowa's Education Research Foundation and Junior Achievement Black Hawk Land, Inc.

DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS, CHRISTOPHER RITRIEVI Christopher Ritrievi is in his first year as Northern Iowa Director of Athletics. His appointment was announced in a press conference held May 15 and he has been on the job since June 15. Ritrievi had been associate athletic director at Stanford University since March of 1991 at the time of his selection. He had primary responsibilities of raising more than seven million dollars annually to support a very successful Division I-A program, and for planning and implementing strategies for departmental goals, including budget administration and marketing. Prior to joining the Stanford sta ff, he was director of athletic development at the University of Pennsylvania where he coordinated all fundraising for a Division I-AA department where more than 1.25 million dollars was raised, in addition to more than five million dollars in capital commitments. Retrievi also was at Princeton, where he held positions of associate director for leadership gifts and assistant director for major gifts. From 1985-88, he was assistant wrestling coach at Princeton. He also served as acting director of athletic development at Bowling Green State. The 35-year-old native of Levittown, Penn., Ritrievi is a 1979 graduate of Princeton with a degree in economics. He earned three letters in wrestling at Princeton and has been president of the Princeton Class of 1979 since 1989 . Ritrievi was chosen from a list of 68 candidates. "This Gob) was too good to pass up ,• he said . "I can't think of another job I would have left Stanford for at this time in my career. (UNI) is one of the outstanding positions in college athletics today. There is great tradition here and the program has the backing of the president and administration.• Ritrievi is married to the former Stephanie Homeyer, who grew up in Wellsburg, Iowa.

Nancy Justis is a member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and is chair of that organization's national Career Enhancement Committee. She joined the UNI staff in 1974 as assistant editor in the Office of Public Relations after working one year as a reporter for the Fort Collins (Colo.) Coloradoan. In 1976, she was named the first fulltimeassistantSID at UNI and was named director in 1979. Her publications have received several awards from CoSIDA. She was a member of the press operations corp at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1987 Pan American Games held in Indianapolis. She also is a member of Women in Communications, Inc., and the United States Basketball Writers Association. Nancy Micki She's a 1973 graduate ofthe University oflowa. A native of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she Justis Austin and her husband, Bob, who announces home Panther football and men's basketball games, have a daughter, Nicole. Micki Austin joined the Panther athletic staff in 1990 after spending the past five years as head athletic trainer at the Sports Injury Center at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa. Austin graduated with a bachelor's degree in Recreation/ Athletic Training from the University of North Dakota in 1982, and received her master's degree in Physical Education/Athletic Training from UNI in 1983. Austin has also worked as an assistant athletic trainer and physical education instructor at the United States Military Academy in WestPoint, N. Y., in 1983-84, and head athletic trainer at Wartburg College in Waverly, Iowa, from 1984-87. She is currently working on her doctorate in Education at UNI. Rejean Gronewald is in her third season as a manger of the UNI women's Rejean Kristie basketball team, the last two as head manager. A native of Grundy Center, Iowa, she Gronewold Rwna is studying Psychology at Northern Iowa. She is the daughter of Bill and Sue Gronewald, and has one brother, Tom. Kristie Ruma is also in her third year at Northern Iowa and her third season with the women's basketball team. She serves as the head office assistant for the coaching staff. A 1990 graduate ofBettendorfHigh School in Davenport, Iowa, she is studying Business Management at Northern Iowa. She is the daughter of Sam and Janice Ruma, and has three sisters, Sherrie, who also attends UNI, Wenndie and Jacquie. Angie Mohr played one season for the Panthers before a knee injury ended her career. She has stayed with the program in the role of manager. In her freshman season, she played in 26 games, starting four, and finished with 3.1 points and 1.4 rebounds per game. She is a 1990 graduate of Dubuque Senior High School. She is Angie April majoring in English Education at UNI, with a minor in Coaching. She is the daughter Mohr Albers of Tom and JoAnn Mohr, and has one brother, Jason. April Albers is a senior at UNI, but in her first season as a manager for the women's basketball team. The native of Luzerne, Iowa, graduated from Benton Community High School in 1989. At UNI, she is studying Community Health Education with a Business minor. She is the daughter of Dennis and Susan Albers and has two sisters, Lori and Melissa. Abby Frazee is in her first year as a manager and is a freshman at Northern Iowa. The daughter of Jamie and Judy Frazee, she has one brother, James. The Anamosa native is a 1992 graduate of Anamosa High School and is majoring in Physical Education al UNI, with a minor in Athletic Training. Chris Lockner is also in his first year as a manager with UNI women's basketball. A nativeofFairbuilt, Minn., he is majoring in Elementary Education, with Abby Chris minors in Coaching and History. He is a 1988 graduate of the Bethlehem Academy Frazee Lockner and a memberofUNI's Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He is the son of John and Mary Kay Lockner, and has two brothers, John and Seth, and one sister, Kate. Angie Nag! and Becky Hyman recently joined the support staff as managers. Nagl is a freshman from Carroll, Iowa, and a 1992 graduateofCarroll-Kuemper High School. She is studying Leisure Serves at UNI. The daughter of Larry and Margie Nagl, she has three brothers, Curtis, Marcus and Lucas. Hyman is also a freshman at UNI, being a 1992 graduated of Fort Dodge High School in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
