On an almost daily basis, unlawful killings of one or two individuals are reported in Jammu and Kashmir. As you may be aware, impunity for human rights abuses is a long-standing issue in Jammu and Kashmir. Abuses by security force personnel, including unlawful killings, rape, and disappearances, have often go ne uninvestigated and unpunished. India authorities in Jammu and Kashmir also frequently violate other rights. Prolonged curfews restrict people’s movement, mobile and internet service shutdowns curb free expression, and protestors often face excessive force and the use of abusive weapons such as pellet-firing shotguns. While the region seemed to have slowly emerging out of the complete crackdown imposed on 5 August 2019, with the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, the lockdown was reimposed and so the conditions for civilians remain dire.

In view of this, Town Planning Organisation, Kashmir has undertaken the preparation of the Master Plans for various towns, which envisages all encompassing development of these towns. Master Plans are expected to give impetus to the development and economic potential of the towns. In the first phase, the Master Plans of district headquarters have been taken up which will be followed up by Master Plans of other small and medium towns. The Government has also decided to outsource few Master Plans; however, the Master Plan for Ganderbal, which is on the threshold of becoming Class I town, has been outsourced to M/S Feedback Infra Private Limited, Gurgaon. The Master Plan-Ganderbal (2012-32) is the first planning effort in Kashmir region that has been outsourced to any private consultant by Town Planning Organisation, Kashmir. The studies involved in the preparation of Master Plan for Ganderbal (2012-32) concerns with the areas crucial to planning and development of the region. The primary objective is to highlight the conflict transformation (both positive and negative) in this region during the recent years; to explore the opportunities of an Pir Panjal festival bringing the various communities together and build peace from below; integrate the border districts with the national mainstream; and improve the physical and psychological connectivity of the Pir Panjal region with the rest and remove the feeling of physical isolation. Somasundaran Associate Professor, Department of Sociology, Annamalai University Abstract The study examines the psychological impact among women due to armed conflict in Jammu and Kashmir. The quantitative, as well as qualitative strategies, were used for this study. A multi-stage sampling procedure was used for primary data collection from the respondents through an interview schedule. The Primary data collected from 339 married women belong to the age group of 18-40 years from Shopian district, Jammu and Kashmir, and some case study also conducted to collect brief information from six affected women for the study area. The secondary data gathered from published books, journals, articles, and websites. The psychological issues were studied using a five-point Likert Scale. The analysis revealed that 83.8 (284/339) per cent of respondents are profoundly affected psychologically which includes "feeling of hopelessness & helplessness", "sleep disturbance", "unable to concentrate", "feeling nervous, tense or worried", "Sleep disturbances". It could be concluded from the data analysis; the majority of the respondents were affected psychologically due to armed conflict in the study area. Among the various dimensions, mostly they are disturbed by "feeling of hopelessness & helplessness", followed by "sleep disturbance".     POONCH DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY (TOURISM) 1. Introduction The District Poonch is popularly known as mini Kashmir and is one among the remote districts of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. It is the place of Rishis & Munis and is at distance of two hundred and fifty (250) Kms from Jammu connected by National Highway. The Poonch District comprising of six Tehsils i.e. Poonch (Haveli), Mandi, Mendhar, Balakote, Mankote and Surankote. It is bounded by the Actual Line of Control (LoC) from three sides. The LoC is about 103 Kms. from Tarkundi in Balakote to Sawjian in Mandi. Poonch has witnessed many historical events and has been ruled by outsiders and locals at different junctures till it became a part of independent India. In Poonch there are very attractive places/scenic spots which can be developed from the tourism point of view. Poonch is also famous for Border Tourism as the same is located near the LOC. Keeping in view, the importance of Poonch a separate authority namely Tourism Development Authority Poonch was established in the year 2005-06 vide Govt. Order No.209-TSM of 2005 Dated:-27-09-2005 and started functioning in 2006-07. Since the inception of the Tourism Authority of Poonch a number of Tourism infrastructures have been created and some of the projects are underway/in progress for completion. There are many scenic spots/tourist destinations which could be developed by way of installing chair lifts etc. In near future when the whole infrastructure from the tourism point of view will be developed the Poonch shall become a Model place for the tourists’ domestic/national/international to visit being located on the Border.
