Stipendiet delades ut under en ceremoni på Kulturhuset Stadsteatern i Stockholm på måndagskvällen. Det är fjärde året som Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål delar ut fem stipendier som enligt donatorns vilja ska stödja konstnärskap som kan förväntas få stor betydelse för kulturarvet. Motivering Neneh Cherry är en levande ikon som alltid legat i konstnärlig framkant. Hon har konstant fortsatt att utvecklas musikaliskt och utforska olika uttryck på ett unikt sätt. Hon är en av Sveriges största artister i modern tid, med ett inflytande på samtida popkultur som saknar motsvarighet. Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål 2012 donerade finansmannen och konstälskaren Per Gannevik cirka 60 miljoner kronor till Konstnärsnämnden. I enlighet med testamentvillkoren bildades då Per Ganneviks stiftelse för kulturella ändamål. Stiftelsens ändamål är att stödja nu verksamma konstnärer som kan förväntas ha betydelse för kulturarvet. Stipendiaterna kommer att sökas inom de fem konstområden som Konstnärsnämnden vanligtvis stödjer – bild och form, musik, teater, dans och film. Stiftelsens styrelse är i enlighet med stadgarna densamma som Konstnärsnämndens styrelse. Om Neneh Cherry Neneh Cherry är född 1964 i Stockholm. Hon växte upp i Skåne, men hoppade av skolan i Hässleholm och flyttade som fjortonåring till London för att ägna sig åt musik. Hon har under perioder bott i flera andra länder sedan dess, men den brittiska huvudstaden är hennes nuvarande bostadsort. Neneh Cherry kom till den engelska musikscenen i slutet av punkeran och var med i flera olika band.

Deutzmann Abstract: This research focuses on whether it is possible to determine popularity of a specific song based on its lyrics. The songs which were considered were in the US Billboard Top 40 Singles Chart between 2006 and 2011. From this point forward, k-means clustering in RapidMiner has been used to determine the content that was present in the songs. Furthermore, data from Last.FM was used to determine the popularity of a song. This resulted in the conclusion that up to a certain extent, it is possible to determine popularity of songs. This is mostly applicable to the love theme, but only in the specific niches of it.     KOOL & THE GANG, Jersey City, N.J. In 1964, Ronald Bell and Robert “Kool” Bell joined Jersey City neighborhood friends Robert “Spike” Mickens, Dennis “Dee Tee” Thomas, Ricky Westfield, George Brown, and Charles Smith to create the Kool & the Gang sound - a unique blend of jazz, soul and funk. Throughout the seventies this blend produced a string of hits including “Jungle Boogie”, “Hollywood Swinging”, “Funky Stuff’ and “Summer Madness”. In 1979 the group penetrated the pop market by incorporating the smooth sounds of vocalist James “JT” Taylor with their infectious formula for making hits. Casey Kasem named Kool & the Gang the band of the eighties noting the bands steady stream of hits during the decade. “Ladies Night”, “Get Down on It” “Joanna” and the theme song to parties worldwide, “Celebration”, solidified Kool & the Gang’s musical legacy. Today, the group enjoys global fame and recognition and a following that spans generations due in part to the groups widely sampled catalogue. Kool & the Gang’s drum beats, bass, guitar and signature horn lines lace the tracks of numerous artists including the Beastie Boys, Jay-Z, Madonna, Janet Jackson, Cypress Hill, and P. Diddy. Kool & the Gang is the most sampled band in hip-hop by far. Their music is also featured on the soundtracks for Rocky, Saturday Night Fever, Pulp Fiction, Wreck-lt Ralph and countless others.     In the early months of 1964, on their inaugural tour of North America, the Beatles seemed to be everywhere: appearing on The Ed Sullivan Show, making the front cover of Newsweek, and playing for fanatical crowds at sold out concerts in Washington, D.C. and New York City. On Billboard magazine’s April 4, 1964, Hot 100 2 list, the “Fab Four” held the top five positions. 28 One notch down at Number 6 was “Suspicion,” 29 by a virtually unknown singer from Amarillo, Texas, named Terry Stafford. The following week “Suspicion” – a song that sounded suspiciously like Elvis Presley using an alias – moved up to Number 3, wedged in between the Beatles’ “Twist and Shout” and “She Loves You.”3 The saga of how a Texas boy met the British Invasion head-on, achieving almost overnight success and a Top-10 hit, is one of triumph and “Amarillo By Morning” disappointment, a reminder of the vagaries The Life and Songs of Terry Stafford 1 that are a fact of life when pursuing a career in Joe W.
