He served as head coach of the Vancouver Canucks for three seasons (from 2014-17). He also served as associate head coach with the Dallas Stars for two seasons (2010-12). He was the head coach for Team Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics. In his first season with the Canucks, they posted a 48-29-5 record and qualified for the playoffs (101 points; second place in the Pacific Division).
