Parish Registers Parish Registers Shropshire Archives holds copies of most of the parish registers for the county. This list will tell you in which format the registers are held for each parish. How to Use this List 1st Column The name of the parish appears in the first column. 2nd Column The second column lists the microfiche or microfilm copies that are available. These are photographic copies of the original records. You will need to book a microfiche or microfilm reader to view these. In the case of microfiche, the numbers in brackets refer to individual fiche numbers. For example CB 1690-1812 (23-37) shows that christenings and burials for those dates will be found on fiches numbered 23 to 37 in that particular parish. Entries in italics in this column indicate that the registers are on microfilm. 3rd Column The third column gives the dates of those registers which have been printed. All of these volumes have name and place indexes. They are available on the Reading Room shelves. 4th Column The fourth column lists all the transcripts which are available. Where there is an index to the transcript this is indicated by (I) after the covering dates. These are also available on the Reading Room shelves. 5th Column The fifth column lists which years are available as original registers only. You will need a Readers Ticket to order these in the Search Room. • Rural Settlement List 2014
National Non Domestic Rates RURAL SETTLEMENT LIST 2014 1 1. Background Legislation With effect from 1st April 1998, the Local Government Finance and Rating Act 1997 introduced a scheme of mandatory rate relief for certain kinds of hereditament situated in ‘rural settlements’. A ‘rural settlement’ is defined as a settlement that has a population of not more than 3,000 on 31st December immediately before the chargeable year in question. The Non-Domestic Rating (Rural Settlements) (England) (Amendment) Order 2009 (S.I. 2009/3176) prescribes the following hereditaments as being eligible with effect from 1st April 2010:- Sole food shop within a rural settlement and has a RV of less than £8,500; Sole general store within a rural settlement and has a RV of less than £8,500; Sole post office within a rural settlement and has a RV of less than £8,500; Sole public house within a rural settlement and has a RV of less than £12,500; Sole petrol filling station within a rural settlement and has a RV of less than £12,500; Section 47 of the Local Government Finance Act 1988 provides that a billing authority may grant discretionary relief for hereditaments to which mandatory relief applies, and additionally to any hereditament within a rural settlement which is used for purposes which are of benefit to the local community. Sections 42A and 42B of Schedule 1 of the Local Government and Rating Act 1997 dictate that each Billing Authority must prepare and maintain a Rural Settlement List, which is to identify any settlements which:- a) Are wholly or partly within the authority’s area; b) Appear to have a population of not more than 3,000 on 31st December immediately before the chargeable financial year in question; and c) Are, in that financial year, wholly or partly, within an area designated for the purpose.

APM 3/18 Minutes of parish meeting held on 9th May 2017 It was resolved to approve the minutes and they were duly signed by the Chairman. APM 4/18 Matters arising None. APM 5/18 Parish Council Report The past year has been dominated by Shropshire Council’s decision to undertake a Local Plan Review. This is likely to have a significant effect on housing development in Cressage over the next five years and beyond. Cressage now designated as an area of Open Countryside and is likely to become a Community Hub. There is a considerable amount of detailed information relating to this on Shropshire Council’s website. As part of this review the planning department will consult with both residents and parish council undertake site visits and advise on a development boundary and appropriate housing needs. An initial consultation period was established and this ended earlier this year. Details of designated hubs will be announced later this year. The parish council has been engaged in two fronts regarding this consultation. Firstly, three of our members have been working on the 2018 Parish Plan. Their final task was to publish an Action Plan. This has been adopted by the parish council. The required actions relating to housing and development are now part of a planning strategy we will continue to pursue.
