Frederick Bremer School

Uniform List

Our Principles

At Frederick Bremer School we believe that school uniform plays a crucial role in creating an inclusive community, providing a school identity and demonstrating equity amongst pupils. We encourage our pupils to express their individuality through their actions and the content of their character, not through their school uniform. We encourage a formal - in preparation for the world of work. Students are expected to wear school uniform at all times and a high standard of dress is required, both within the school and when representing the school in the community. Whilst this list below is not definitive or exhaustive, pupils are expected to be appropriately and respectfully dressed for school. The emphasis is formal dress.

Final decisions regarding the appropriate nature of uniform choice rests with the Headteacher, and in line with the principles outlined above.

All pupils must wear at all times: ● A school blazer (only school badges can be worn on blazers) ● Plain white shirt with collar, tucked in (any worn under shirts must be white) ● School tie (with year group colours), with 5 bars of the stripe showing ● School navy blue skirt to the knee OR full length skirt OR navy blue school trousers (not tight fitting) ● School navy blue blazer with logo ● Black leather or similar school , or smart black boots (not canvas or with labels). Laces must be black. Boots must be worn under trousers, and not with skirts. ● White, Navy blue or black knee length socks or tights – there should be no gap between the bottom of the skirt and the top of the socks ● No other colour socks should be worn than black, navy blue or white. ● If a pupil wishes to wear socks over their tights they must be the same colour as the tights.

Optional ● School navy blue ‘V’ neck jumper with school badge. ● Muslim girls may wear a plain black, navy or white hijab. For other students, hair accessories should be plain white, black or blue. ● Sikh boys may wear the traditional turban.

Please note: ● Belts, hair bands and other accessories must be plain and in school colours. ● Coats and hats can be worn to and from school, but are not permitted in the school building during the school day. ● Hairstyles should be suitably formal. Significant hair colouring or shaving of hair (inc. patterns) is not permitted. ● Hair accessories should be plain and simple. Bands and ribbons should be blue, white or black. ● Light make-up is permitted. Diamante earrings are not appropriate. No other piercing is permitted. ● Watches are encouraged. ● A large formal style school bag is compulsory (big enough to carry A4 books) ● Hoodies are NOT a form of outdoor wear – these will be confiscated if a pupil wears them anywhere on the school site. Uniform List

As many of you may be aware Nike Air Force were considered NOT PART of our school uniform from September 2019. As a result some pupils now wear trainers which are being ‘marketed’ as shoes by retailers.

Please be aware that the school does not consider the following trainers as school shoes.

(Slazenger / Lonsdale / Puma / Adidas / Kappa / Reebok)

We encourage all parents to ensure that their child is not wearing any of the above.
