Be responsible for analytical testing and reporting on the properties of materials, processes and products for a Fortune 200 CPG Company with some of the most iconic brands! Have a Bachelor of Science in Analytical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or related field along with 1 plus year of experience with Spectroscopy in an analytical chemistry lab? Then we want to speak with you! We are looking for a Scientist, Spectroscopy to join our Analytical Sciences department in Richmond, VA.

In this role, you will: • Independently apply scientific/engineering practices, procedures and/or theory to develop the business case/plan for their work. • Recommend technical alternatives and designs/design improvements, possess technical competence in an area of specialization and knowledge of related specialties. • Coordinate technical personnel drawn from multiple subject areas. • Deliver high quality Analytical Science services to our operating companies. • Perform product and material analysis on a wide range of sample types utilizing multiple techniques and instrumentation • Maintain and manage the appropriate documentation for Analytical Sciences to be compliant with Quality Systems and Records Management policies • Provide support to category leaders, senior scientists, product developers and factory personnel to achieve department and company initiatives • Develop solutions to complex technical problems where few precedents exist • Participate in scientific meetings both internal and external to maintain and expand scientific expertise • Participate on multi-functional teams representing Analytical Sciences

We want you to have: • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering, Analytical Chemistry, or closely related field • Familiarity with analytical chemistry techniques and analysis such as; Vibrational Spectroscopy (FTIR, NIR, Raman etc.), Mass Spectrometry, X-Ray fluoresence, chemometrics, microscopy, and chromatography • 1+ year of experience working in an analytical chemistry laboratory • Experience working with and tobacco products preferred • Experience working in a regulated industry and familiarity with Quality Systems such as ISO 17025, or ISO 9001 desired • Excellent attention to detail, verbal and written communication skills
