Set on the picturesque Great Barrier Reef, and filming in Far North Queensland and the Gold Coast, Jonathan M Shiff’s new prime time family drama REEF DOCTORS is currently in production.

LISA McCUNE is DR SAM STEWART

Lisa McCune is one of Australia’s most popular and successful screen and theatre actors, earning an impressive collection of awards celebrating her performances, including four Gold TV Week for Most Popular Personality on Australian television.

As a teenager in , Lisa developed her love of acting by appearing in various repertory group plays. After studying music and classical singing in high school she was accepted into the acting course at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

Lisa moved to after graduating WAAPA in 1990 where she began touring the play Working Out to rural schools. She appeared in a few television pilots before landing the role of in the police drama, Blue Heelers. Blue Heelers went on to become one of the most popular and enduring programs on Australian television making Lisa a household name. During her years as Maggie Doyle, she played the lead role of Mary in the mini-series, The Potato Factory, based on Bryce Courtney’s novel.

In 1999, Lisa starred as Maria in the Gordon Frost production of , which she followed with her Green Room Award-winning performance as Sally Bowles in . Lisa also received nominations for a Helpmann Award and a Green Room Award for her performance as Hope Cladwell in . Lisa’s other stage credits include Melbourne Theatre Company’s The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Dead Man’s Cell Phone and The Ambassador Theatre Group’s and Melbourne seasons of (2009 Green Room nomination).

Lisa’s other screen credits include Rowan Woods’ feature Little Fish, the highly acclaimed series MDA, Bryan Brown’s Two Twisted, the UK/Australian co-production Tripping Over, and the telemovie Hell Has Harbour Views for which she received a Silver TV Week Logie Award nomination for Most Outstanding Actress, and the ABC series Rake, with . In 2011, Lisa starred in series five of the ’s Sea Patrol as Lieutenant “XO” Kate McGregor (2008 Silver TV Week Logie nomination) and in the telemovie Blood Brothers, directed by Peter Andrikidis, also on the Nine Network.

Lisa has recently turned her hand to producing and has been working with experienced producers such as Gus Howard (Rain Shadow, Blue Heelers), and Anthony Buckley (Oyster Farmer, Rabbit Proof Fence) on a number of projects for the screen, including co-producing Reef Doctors.

An ex-navy demolitions diver, Toby runs the dive charter boat for Hope Island which is also the clinic’s ferry to the mainland. But there’s something shady about Toby … something dangerous, but so very attractive.

ROHAN NICHOL is TOBY McGRATH

Born in Geraldton, WA, Rohan graduated from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) in 1999.

Rohan’s work in film includes the Award Winning Independent feature Red Dog directed by Kriv Stenders based on Louis de Bernieres' best- selling novel, South Solitary directed by Shirley Barrett (released 2010), Garage Days directed by Alex Proyas, A Man’s Gotta Do directed by Chris Kennedy, along with major international releases including Star Wars Episode 3 directed by George Lucas and Fool’s Gold for Warner Bros Films. He has also appeared in short films such as the award winning Katoomba directed by Leon Ford and Creating Fortune directed by David Barker.

On television Rohan’s credits include Terra Nova, Killing Time, Rush, Underbelly, All Saints and Headland. In 2010 Rohan appeared in The Pacific, produced in Australia by Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks for DreamWorks.

His professional theatre credits include Taming of The Shrew for The , A Cherry Soul; Sydney Theatre Co/ Belvoir Street Theatre co-production, Taking Liberty and Stories from Suburban Road for Perth Theatre Company, Plainsong for Black Swan Theatre Co / Perth Festival), The Lights (Belvoir St / B Sharp) and Accelerando (Zygote Productions).

In 2005 Rohan was the Winner of the Best Actor 2005 Short and Sweet Festival for his performance as Craig in Leave A Message directed by Leland Keane.

Professor ANDREW WALSH Sam’s ex husband and father of Jack, Andrew is the Head of Tropical Medicine at the mainland University Hospital. He is also Sam’s boss.

MATT DAY is ANDREW WALSH

Matt Day has established a reputation as one of Australia’s leading film and television actors.

In 2012, Matt will be seen in the ABC’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries with and the second series of Lowdown.

Matt has appeared in numerous Australian television series and telemovies including Rake alongside Richard Roxburgh, Southern Star’s critically acclaimed drama Tangle, Hell Has Harbour Views, My Brother Jack, The Informant and Underbelly: The Golden Mile. His international television credits include Shackleton, The Hound of the Baskervilles, The Commander, Spooks, Hotel Babylon, Farscape, Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Bruce Beresford’s And Starring Pancho Villa as Himself. In 2011, Matt starred in the high rating ABC drama Paper Giants: The Birth of Cleo.

In 2009, Matt starred in Sarah Watt’s feature film My Year Without Sex, which screened in Official Selection at the 2009 Toronto International Film Festival. His other feature credits include Woody Allen’s Scoop, Muriel’s Wedding, Doing Time for Patsy Cline, Love and Other Catastrophes, Dating the Enemy and Kiss or Kill, for which he received nominations for a Film Critic Circle Award and an AFI Award for Best Actor.

Matt is also an accomplished theatre actor, appearing in The Wonderful World of Dissocia, Six Degrees of Separation and Fred for the Sydney Theatre Company and Scarlett O’Hara for the Melbourne Theatre Company.

RICHARD BRANCATISANO is DR RICK D’ALESSANDRO

One of the stars of the recent Underbelly: Razor, Richard Brancatisano is a talent to watch.

To date he has starred in several television productions including White Collar Blue, Home & Away, Power Rangers - Mystic Force, LA Noir, Power Rangers - The Reunion, and Elephant Princess II.

In 2012 Brancatisano will be seen in the big screen thriller, Bait 3D directed by .

A talented guitarist and singer, Brancatisano has also enjoyed feature roles in a range of theatrical productions from Wind In The Willows to Les Miserables.

GUS COCHRANE Sam’s venomdoc partner, is the clinic’s Pharmacologist. He’s as straight down the line normal as Sam is fearless… but always the loyal and brave colleague. But then you have to be to hunt the deadliest of creatures in a place where there is a resident crocodile in the mangroves.

ANDREW RYAN is GUS COCHRANE

With film credits including the Australian blockbuster Tomorrow When The War Began, Black Balloon and All My Friends Are Leaving Brisbane, in 2011 Andrew completed production of the upcoming Australian feature Not Suitable For Children starring .

On television Andrew has appeared in My Place, series one and two of The Jesters, Chandon Pictures, Double The Fist and All Saints.

With theatre credits including Romeo & Juliet for the Riverside Theatre and The Kid for Griffin Theatre, Andrew also starred in the web series The Future Machine.

A graduate of the Queensland University of Technology, Andrew co- wrote, produced, starred in and narrated the short film, Birth Therapy, which was a Finalist in 2011.

JACK STEWART Sam’s adolescent son, a normal strong-willed kid who’s too bright for his own good and starting to push the boundaries with her, and it doesn’t help that he’s resentful of his parent’s divorce.

JUSTIN HOLBOROW is JACK STEWART

Born in Sydney, Justin moved to Thailand when he was nine, residing there with his family for the next 4 years and attending Harrow International School. It was at Harrow in Bangkok that Justin first became interested in acting, and subsequently landed the lead role in the school production of Bugsy in Bugsy Malone.

In 2010 at age 13, he moved back to Sydney and enrolled in the Newtown School of Performing Arts.

After attending a weekend course at NIDA, he found himself once again in the lead role in the 2011 NIDA Summer production of Robin Hood. This led to him landing the role of ‘Griff’ in the upcoming Family Movie Channel series Conspiracy 365 which will premiere in 2012 on FOXTEL/AUSTAR.

TASNEEM ROC is OLIVIA (LIVVY) SHAW

One of Australia’s emerging new talents, in 2011 Tasneem appeared in the ABC’s drama series Crownies playing Tina Chang and as a series regular in East West 101 in the role of Amina.

With film credits including Liz in Stuck in a Moment, The Hand in The Hunt, Marilyn in Duckman, the Nurse in Burning Man and Miranda in Not Suitable For Children, Tasneem most recently finished filming the highly anticipated Kath & Kim The Filum.

Tasneem has also appeared as series regular Suzy in Home & Away, Miss Take in Spirited, Neysa in Sea Patrol, Suze in Out of the Blue, Skye in Head Start and Thania Saya in Heartbreak High.

FREYA KLEIN

A bright, independent fourth year German medical student who is on rural rotation on Hope Island - who becomes more than a little enamoured with the new doctor on the island, Rick D’Alessandro.

SUSAN HOECKE is FREYA KLEIN

Born in the former GDR part of Berlin, Susan started acting at the tender age of 7 when she was cast as Snow White in the school play. After graduating from high school, Susan began to take acting lessons, which she financed by occasional modeling jobs. International modeling and commercial assignments made it possible for Susan to travel the world, whilst still pursuing her passion for acting. Susan made her debut in Domenik Graf’s successful film Hotte Im Paradies, before appearing in the features Der Blast, Nach Malmö Bitte and Love On Sale.

But it was a very un “Snow White” role which made Susan Hoecke well known to a large audience, when she was cast as the bitchy Head Girl “Billy” in the PRO7 television series 18 – Allein Unter Mädchen in 2004. Since then she has appeared in the telemovies Crazy Partners for Pro7 and Ferienarzt In Der Toskana for ZDF.

From 2007 to 2009, Susan starred in the multi award winning series Sturm Der Liebe which is being enjoyed by audiences world wide having been sold into more than twenty countries – but no where more than where it was re-badged Tempesta D’Amore and broadcast in primetime with 8 million viewers a night, with Susan being recognized with a Best Actress Award.

In 2009, Susan was cast in the award winning television series Der Lehrer (RTL), as the student Corinna Sabic, and appeared in the romantic comedy Was Ich An Dir Liebe (ARD), and in 2010 she appeared in the British romantic comedy feature The Sweet Shop, besides Matthew Lewis (Harry Potter’s Neville Longbottom) and Vanessa Haywood, before filming guest roles in the ZDF series The Rosenheim-Cops and in the RTL hit-series Alarm For Cobra 11.

In 2011, Susan appeared in a cameo in Sergej Moya’s film Hotel Desire and as a guest lead in ZDF’s Weiss-Blaue Gschichten, as well as hosting the ZDF comedy show Sonst Gehts Danke.

Most recently Susan was cast in a starring role in the RTL pilot Sekretärinnen, which will go into production in 2012.

SONNY FARRELL

The one person who knows everything there is to know about Sam and Toby. A former surfing champion and the island’s oldest resident who’s been there for 40 years, Sonny is the exuberant manager of the Backpackers Hostel and Bar, so he’s a man who knows how to keep things to himself. Until they need to be said.

ROD MULLINAR is SONNY FARRELL

Rod Mullinar is renowned for his roles on Australian television. Early in his career he featured in the TV series’ Hunter, , Matlock Police, Homicide, Ryan and the TV mini-series Against the Wind. Rod then went on to star in the infamous Australian series Prisoner. His other TV credits include Five Mile Creek, All Saints, Shortland St. and Shock Jock.

More recently he has been seen in Dogstar, Rush, Satisfaction and City Homicide.

Rod has also appeared in numerous telemovies including The Geeks, Magee and the Lady, Water Under the Bridge, For the Term of His Natural Life, Il Magistrato, Halifax fp: Acts of Betrayal.

Kristof’s other television credits include Oblivion: The Series, Klub Szalonych Dziewic, Londyncycy, Tylko Milosc and Egzamin z Zycia which he shot in .

He has also appeared in the feature film, The Acting Coach, directed by Pablo Mancini.

Kristof’s theatre credits include productions of Much Ado About Nothing, Tales of Ovid, Pillars of Society, Othello, Merry-Go-Round by the Sea, Dr. Faust and Master and Marguerite.

NELL SAUNDERS The Park Ranger’s daughter - a tomboy with attitude - and Jack’s only same age buddy on the island.

CHLOE BAYLISS is NELL

On completion of her Diploma of Dance and Performance at the National College of Dance, Chloe began work on the ABC series Dance Academy. In series 1 she performed the featured role of “young Natasha”, as well as working as an extra throughout the series.

Chloe was invited to perform with Mystic Ballet Company, Connecticut, in the USA. In her 7 months with Mystic, Chloe performed principal and soloist roles in both the companies’ productions Nutcracker and G.R.A.B.

Upon her return to Australia, Chloe began working on Series 2 of Dance Academy performing as a featured dancer and extra, as well as voice over work throughout the whole series.

Whilst Chloe has had success as a dancer, choreographer and dance teacher both here and in the USA, she continues to broaden her training in the arts. She has studied short courses at NIDA with Genevieve Hegney, Emily Breenan and Robert Jago and is continuing to study acting with Genevieve.

Throughout this time Chloe was and continues to be an Ambassador and spokesperson for the Red Cross Blood Service featuring in a Channel 7 news documentary and speaking at many public functions. As patron for the Hunter and Northern Kidney association she initiated fundraising, which concluded this year with meeting the Health Minister and securing significant funding for life saving equipment for the John Hunter Hospital.

COLIN BUDDS DIRECTOR Colin Budds is a film and television director with 25 years mainstream experience. He has worked extensively for both local and international producers over a wide range of genres, from action feature films for Paramount Pictures, drama series including Mission Impossible and The Lost World to the locally produced The Flying Doctors and Stingers.

For Jonathan M Shiff Productions, Colin has directed the series The Elephant Princess, H2O – Just Add Water, Wicked Science, Scooter: Secret Agent, Thunderstone and Ocean Girl. His other credits include State Coroner, Flipper, Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, The Lost World and Maiden Voyage.

Colin has won prestigious BAFTA Awards for Best Children’s Drama in 1989 and 1990, the US Nickelodeon Award, Chicago Film Festival and has been nominated for four AFI awards.

GRANT BROWN DIRECTOR Grant has been working in the Australian television drama industry for nearly 20 years covering many genres, with credits including Crownies, Stingers, Last Man Standing, McLeod’s Daughters, Underbelly, Dirt Game, Bed Of Roses, Rush and the telemovie Infiltration.

His work in children’s television for Jonathan M Shiff includes , Elephant Princess, Lost Treasure Of Fiji and Wicked Science, which went on to win the 2004 Australian Film Institute Award for Best Children’s Television Drama. This series also won the 2005 Silver World Medal at the New York Festivals’ International Television Awards.

He has been nominated 3 times for Best Direction in Television at the Australian Film Institute Awards for his episodes of Stingers, Underbelly and Rush. Stingers and Rush went on to win Best Drama Series. In 2009 he was twice nominated for an Australian Directors Guild Award – for his work on Dirt Game and Underbelly: A Tale Of Two Cities.

TOM McSWEENEY CASTING DIRECTOR For the past 25 years, Emmy nominated Casting Director, Tom McSweeney has proven to have a keen eye for spotting talent and for introducing it to audiences in both film and television productions. Actors such as Renee Zellweger, Emily Browning, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Jesse Spencer, Phoebe Tonkin, Mila Kunis, Seth Green, Mariska Hargitay, received their first international exposure in projects cast by Tom.

H2O - JUST ADD WATER is an international smash hit. The program won a 2008 and 2009 Australian Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Award for Fave Drama Show, received a nomination for an ATOM Award for Best Children’s Series, won the 2009 Australian TV Week Logie Award for Most Outstanding Children’s Program and earned four AFI nominations in the 2008 AFI Awards, including nominations for Best Children’s Television Drama Series, Best Lead Actress in a Television Series – Phoebe Tonkin and Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series – Brittany Byrnes. The series won the AFI Award for Best Visual Effects.

In April 2010, H2O - JUST ADD WATER series 3 was nominated for the 2010 BANFF World Television ROCKIES Award in the Youth Category, and more recently was nominated for an AACTA Award in 2012 for Best Children’s Television Series.

In 2009, the company re-signed an ongoing output agreement with ZDF Enterprises, the sales and distribution arm of the German government broadcaster, with whom Jonathan M. Shiff Productions is developing an expanded slate of both family and prime time drama.

In recognition of the company’s international success, Jonathan M. Shiff Productions received the 2010 Governor of Victoria Arts and Entertainment Export Award.
