Cm) 423 Government to sell off €700m shares in bank STATE shares in Bank of Ireland are being sold for up to €700million, Paschal Donohoe, revealed to the markets yesterday. The Finance Minister is planning to offload the Government's 13.7% share over the next few years. He didn't go into too many specifics because it could have affected the market. The Government bailed out Bank of Ireland a decade ago after the crash to the tune of €4.7billion. Shares already sold have reaped €5.9billion, meaning we are already in profit on our bailout. Mr Donohoe said: "Today's announcement marks the start of a phased exit from the State's remaining investment in Bank of Ireland.
