MSME-DI, Hyderabad Was the Pioneer Industrial Consultancy Organization ANNUAL REPORT 2011-12 MSME-DI, HYDERABAD ANNUAL REPORT 2011-12 MSME- Development Institute, HYDERABAD About MSME – DI, Hyderabad: MSME- Development Institute, Hyderabad was established in the year 1956, as a field Institute of the Small Industries Development Organization (SIDO), with an objective to provide much needed consultancy and support to the small scale industrial sector. In Andhra Pradesh, MSME-DI, Hyderabad was the pioneer industrial consultancy organization. The Institute is dedicated to provide need based support to Micro and small scale entrepreneurs by providing various essential inputs like technical counseling regarding selection of product location, raw materials, machinery, layout, and product process, managerial consultancy, etc. The Institute also helps Micro & Small scale Enterprises (MSEs) by imparting knowledge on new practices like modernization, technology upgradation, acquiring international quality systems, energy conservation, pollution control etc. MSME-DI implements the Ministry of MSME, GoI schemes in the state of Andhra Pradesh by spreading awareness about the schemes and identifying suitable beneficiaries. The entrepreneurship and skill development training programmes organized by MSME-DI, Hyderabad are rated as one of the best in the State, as they encompass all aspects of starting and managing a small scale unit. The Entrepreneurship cum Skill Development Programmes (ESDP), Entrepreneurship Development Programmes(EDP), Management Development Programmes(MDP), and the Skill Development Programmes (SDP) focus on developing and sharpening the entrepreneurial, managerial and technical skills of the existing or prospective entrepreneur. MSME - DI, Hyderabad is ably supported by its Branch Institute located at Visakhapatnam. The branch Institute’s jurisdiction is over the five districts of North Coastal Andhra, namely, Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, East Godavari and West Godavari . 1 The MSME Testing Station, (MSME - TS), located strategically in Sanathnagar Industrial Estate, Hyderabad, functions under the administrative control of MSME – DI Hyderabad. It provides testing facilities for MSEs in the areas of physical testing, chemical analysis, etc. It provides consultancy services to MSEs on quality control and standardization procedures and systems testing to national and international standards, and provides third party assurance for products and services from MSME sector on quality levels to major buyers like Government Departments, DGS&D, Railways, PSUs, Defence establishments, etc. The testing center has been upgraded with the addition of sophisticated testing equipment. I. WORKSHOP FACILITIES, REVENUE EARNED: The common facility workshop attached to Br.MSME-DI, Visakhapatnam undertakes job works from local MSME units. TECHNICAL AND OTHER PUBLICATIONS OF MSME-DI MSME-DI, Hyderabad and its branch office at Visakhapatnam prepare technical literature like Project Profiles, Detailed Project Reports, Status Reports and Directories on specific industries, for the benefit of existing and prospective entrepreneurs. During the year 2011-12, the following technical literature was prepared: Status Reports: 1. Solar Based Generators Project Profiles: 1. Project profiles are prepared on product lines that are found to have scope for development in MSME sector. During 2011-12, the Institute prepared 39 project profiles. The list of products for which profiles were prepared, is given as Annexure I. District Industrial Potentiality Survey Reports were prepared for East Godavari, 2 Karimnagar and Medak districts. III. TRAINING PROGRAMMES CONDUCTED BY MSME-DI MSME-DI has been instrumental in creating many entrepreneurs every year, through a wide range of training programmes. The Institute organizes Entrepreneurship cum Skill Development Programmes, Entrepreneurship Development Programmes, Management Development programmes and Skill Development Programmes, for promoting entrepreneurship. A total of 483 persons were trained. The list of training programmes is annexed as Annexure III. 5 Demonstration programmes: Through the Chemical laboratory attached to the Institute, MSME-DI, Hyderabad organized product process demonstration programmes to demonstrate the process of manufacture of simple chemical products such as detergent powder, cold cream, talcum powder, candles, phenyl, etc. 48 persons were trained during 2011-12 V. SEMINARS/WORKSHOPS ORGANIZED BY MSME-DI AND ITS BRANCH: To create awareness on various issues of concern to the MSME sector, MSME-DI regularly organizes seminars and workshops, by partnering with Institutions of repute and Industry organizations. During the year 2011-12, MSME-DI and Br.MSME-DI organized the following Seminars and Workshops: Intellectual Property Rights MSME-DI, Hyderabad organized two Awareness programmes on Intellectual Properties Rights to create awareness among MSMEs.. The first programme was organized at Rajamundry on 21st December 2012. 101 persons participated . The second programme on Ongole on 16th March 2012. 145 persons participated TEQUP scheme: Two Awareness Programmes on TEQUP scheme were organized during the year. The first programme on Product Certification was organized at Visakhapatnam on 25.8.2012. 48 persons, including 5 women, 2 SC/St and 2 Minorities attended the programme. The second programme was organized at Hyderabad on 29.2.2012. 50 persons participated in the programme . 6 QMS/QTT Awareness programmes: Three Awareness programmes were organized to spread awareness about the benefits of adopting QMS/QTT: At Machilipatnam, for Imitation Jewelry Cluster, on 30.12.2012. 71 persons participated At Hyderabad, for members of Federation of Plastic Mfrs Association, on 28.2.2012. 50 persons participated At Rajamundry on 20.3.2012, 62 persons participated Export Promotion MSME-DI, Hyderabad organized two Training programmes on Packaging for Exports: The first 3 day training programme was organized at Hyderabad from 19th to 21st October 2011. 40 persons, including 9 women and 5 persons from SC/ST were trained. The second programme was organized at Tanuku, on 24.1.2012. 22 persons ( including 10 SC) were trained. Two five-day training programmes on Domestic and Export Marketing of Jute Products were organized. The First programme was organized at Hyderabad. The second programme was organized at Visakhapatnam from 22.2.2012 to 26.2.2012. 25 persons, including 4 SC & ST persons participated . Bar Coding 4 Awareness Programmes were organized during 2011-12. They are: On 29th July, at Guntur. 35 persons participated On 5.8.2011, at MSME-DI, Hyderabad, in association with GS1 India, for Pharma and drug Manufacturer, in wake of Min of Health & DGFT’s directives for mandatory registration with GS1 India. 42 pharma and drug entrepreneurs participated. 7 On 9th January

Its programmes are service oriented with the primary focus on supply of plant germplasm required by researchers and plant breeders engaged in crop improvement project. It is the nodal agency for issuing import permit and phytosanitary certificate required as per Plant Quarantine (Regulation of Import into India) Order, 2003 for germplasm introduction into the country. The Germplasm Exchange & Policy Unit of the Bureau plays a vital role in enriching of available national collection through the regular introduction of new germplasm from 103 countries. The division arranges import of the required germplasm not only in response to specific request received from the user but also do so through continuous literature search and correspondence, and by pursuing bilateral agreement. It also serves as the Bureau’s outlet for distribution of indigenous as well as exotic plant germplasm to all user scientists/institutions both within the country and abroad. Proper documentation of introduced materials is essential for records as well as its efficient management. The information of all the collections are serially registered and assigned the national identifier number (accession) namely Exotic Collection (EC) which should remain unaltered.
