Scholars had long noted striking similarities be- tween the language of the Native American Algo- nquin tribes of Long Island and…Old Norse! Then a Leni Lenape Indian gave Dr. Ward of Indi- ana, as payment for medical treatment, a series of engravings on wooden tablets—the Walam Olum. These pictograms and verses were translated in 1836 by Constantine Samuel Rafinesque and de- scribed a massive migration over the ice from Greenland into the interior of North America. The mysterious disappearance of the Viking settlements in Greenland in the 14th century was now explained! Dr. Paine brings this fascinating era to vivid life in his two-volume narrative, Frozen Trail to Merica. The first volume, Talerman, concerns per- haps the most important man in Northeast Amer- ica at the time. It is a narrative version of Taler- man as he might have been when he led one of the most important migrations in history. The second volume tells how Talerman and his friends saved the people of Greenland by Walking to Merica. Join Dr. Myron Paine in his fictionalized retelling of this eye-opening epic! These FNPRM proposals, and the variations thereof suggested by certain commenters, would do more harm than good, and if adopted, would undermine the efforts to revitalize the AM radio service undertaken in the Commission’s First Report and Order in this proceeding. The Alliance Comments filed in this docket submitted evidence, grounded in audience data, listener responses and engineering studies, establishing that the FNPRM proposals to protect Class A AM stations only to their 0.1 mV/m groundwave

Mount Rushmore: The Rise of Talk Radio and Its Impact on Politics and Public Policy Brian Asher Rosenwald Wynnewood, PA Master of Arts, University of Virginia, 2009 Bachelor of Arts, University of Pennsylvania, 2006 A Dissertation presented to the Graduate Faculty of the University of Virginia in Candidacy for the Degree of Doctor of Philosophy Department of History University of Virginia August, 2015 !1 © Copyright 2015 by Brian Asher Rosenwald All Rights Reserved August 2015 !2 Acknowledgements I am deeply indebted to the many people without whom this project would not have been possible. First, a huge thank you to the more than two hundred and twenty five people from the radio and political worlds who graciously took time from their busy schedules to answer my questions. Some of them put up with repeated follow ups and nagging emails as I tried to develop an understanding of the business and its political implications. They allowed me to keep most things on the record, and provided me with an understanding that simply would not have been possible without their participation. When I began this project, I never imagined that I would interview anywhere near this many people, but now, almost five years later, I cannot imagine the project without the information gleaned from these invaluable interviews. I have been fortunate enough to receive fellowships from the Fox Leadership Program at the University of Pennsylvania and the Corcoran Department of History at the University of Virginia, which made it far easier to complete this dissertation. I am grateful to be a part of the Fox family, both because of the great work that the program does, but also because of the terrific people who work at Fox.

FORGE BOOKS A Dog's Way Home W. Bruce Cameron A triumphant return to the tradition of Cameron's beloved bestselling A Dog's Purpose: a classic story of the human-animal bond from a dog’s point of view From W. Bruce Cameron, the author of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling novel A Dog's Purpose, which is now a major motion picture! Lucas Ray is shocked when an adorable puppy jumps out of an abandoned building and into his arms. Though the apartment he shares with his mother, a disabled veteran, doesn’t allow dogs, Lucas can’t resist taking Bella home. Bella is inexplicably drawn to Lucas, even if she doesn’t understand the necessity of games like No Barks. As it becomes more difficult to hide her from the neighbors, Lucas begins to sneak Bella into the VA where he works. There, Bella brings joy and comfort where it is needed most. After Bella is picked up by Animal Control because pit bulls are banned in Denver, Lucas has no choice but to send her to a foster home until he can figure out what to do. • The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism
The Ancient Aliens Guy, His Hair, and Extraterrestrial Imperialism Proposal by Stephen Few, English 102 At some point during the past few years, you may have tuned into The History Channel in hopes of seeing Pawn Stars or a new documentary. Instead of finding what you were looking for, you may have come across a show called Ancient Aliens. When watching Ancient Aliens, it becomes evident very quickly that the show is trying to convince viewers that extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the past. It is obvious that many people begin watching the show for a good laugh once they realize this, because the show is continually made fun of on the Internet and in pop culture. Some people don’t watch long enough because Giorgio Tsoukalos and his crazy hair make the show appear silly and incredible. The odd thing is that some of the ideas are logically possible. The Ancient Astronaut Theory, for example, is a very interesting explanation to many historical mysteries, though it is not taken seriously as a scientific theory. Tsoukalos and his team’s theories on aliens visiting Earth in the past are theoretically possible, so we should consider the implications if their theory is true. What effects will alien visitors have on environmental issues, world religion and cultures, and political organizations around the world in the future? What kind of preparations need to be made by the world in order to prepare for the next alien visitation? Giorgio A. Tsoukalos doesn’t have the college credentials of a world-famous archeologist; as a matter of fact, his body building hobby and sports medicine degree are far from archeology.
