York parks and Recreation Coed rules

Games will be played at the York Ballpark Complex. If weather is bad, games will be called ahead of time. Please use your best judgment on field condition. If you can see your tracks made by your shoes it is probably too wet. Thanks for helping us keep the fields in great condition this summer.

1. This is an adult player’s league. Minimum age for players is 16 years old by June 1st of the current year. 2. Team rosters are due at the Community Center by July 16. Roster maximum is 25 players. Players must play in at least 2 games to be tournament eligible. 3. Team order must be submitted to the league supervisor before the start of each game. Teams have a choice to have a continuous batting order or just the 10 players that are playing the field during that . 4. Teams field 10 players, 5 men and 5 women. If playing only 9, a minimum of 4 female players must be in field positions. 5. When batting, there will be an automatic between two men batting in a row. If a male batter is walked, the following female batter is given the option to bat or automatically walk. Batting order will alternate male/female. Either a male or female may the batting order. 6. Home rule: 4 home runs per game. All others as outs. 7. Coed Softball will be played with a 12” softball. Balls will be provided by the City of York. If you choose to bring your own ball, the ball must be used by both teams and agreed upon by the two playing teams and the ump prior to the start of the game. 8. Time limit will be 1 hour 15 minutes, or 7 . A new inning will not be started with less than 8 minutes to play. 9. Run rule: 15 after 3, 12 after 4, 10 after 5. 10. If game is stopped for weather during or before 3rd inning, rematch. After 3rd, game is complete. 11. Starting count on the batters will be 1-1. This means that batters will begin their turn with 1 strike and 1 ball. The purpose of this is to speed up play and allow for more innings to be played within the time limit. A as a third strike will be counted as “no strike” with the next foul ball a strike and therefore equals an out. 12. Steel/metal cleats are not allowed. Closed toe shoes must be worn. 13. Umpires will be used for this league. In the situation of a make-up game, if an ump is not available, you may use our strike plates. Strike plate rules: If the hits the strike plate with a legally pitched ball, it is considered a strike. Any other placement of the ball is considered a ball. 14. All players must use a composite softball bat. 15. Alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the City Park at any time. Anyone found in possession on City property will be asked to leave. For a second violation, the team the offender is on will be kicked out of the league. 16. Tobacco of any form is not allowed on the playing field or in the . 17. No protests are allowed. 18. An 150 foot encroachment rule will be in effect. 19. Teams must consist of a female /male pitcher or vice versa. 20. Fields are not to be played on when wet. 21. Teams must use the game scheduled provided by our office. No “revised” schedules from any team will be permitted. 22. Players can play on multiple teams until the tournament starts, then players must play for the team that they signed the roster for. 23. Score will be kept by the league supervisor so you will not need to report the scores to Jill.
