JIM DIETZ Head Volleyball Coach [email protected]

In 2018, Jim Dietz enters his 13th season at the helm of the Lincoln Land Community College volleyball program, compiling a 412-141 record, the winningest coach in LLCC history. In the past 12 seasons, the Loggers have been a region runner-up eight times and region champions four times (2012, 2015-2017) reaching the national title game twice (2015, 2016) with a Final Four (third place) finish in 2017. The team has finished in the NJCAA Top Twenty in 10of the past 11 seasons, reaching as high as No. 4 in 2012 and 2015, No. 2 in 2016 and No. 2 in 2017.

Under Dietz’s tutelage, LLCC had its first All-American selection in 2010, and has had 10 more selections in the seven seasons since. In addition, in 2013, LLCC alum Emily Orrick, while playing at State University, was selected Missouri Valley Conference Libero of the Year twice, as well as MVP for Illinois State’s volleyball squad, capping it with an invitation to tryout for the U.S. National Team roster.

As a coach, Dietz has received multiple honors. He was named 2015 AVCA Midwest Coach of the Year for taking LLCC to the NJCAA National title game. In addition, he has been selected as Region XXIV Coach of the Year twice and District K Coach of the Year four times.

Dietz is a respected figure in volleyball having built the St. Anthony High School program in Effingham, leading it to its first ever winning season, regional and sectional titles, first 30-win seasons (in any sport), as well as its first state-qualifying volleyball team. He remains the winningest coach in St. Anthony history (for all sports).

Since 2014, Dietz has served as a USAV High Performance Coach, both as an evaluator for both the boys’ and girls’ programs and as a coach, working at national-level camps for Future-Selects in Las Vegas and New Orleans. Heavily involved in club volleyball, Dietz has coached all ages of teams and helped found two clubs, Crossroads Volleyball in Effingham and Capital Area Volleyball in Springfield. He has also contributed essays and writings to USAV along with presentations at various coaching clinics.

Before moving to Illinois, Dietz worked three years as an assistant at Ohio State (including the 1994 Big Ten and NCAA Final Four squad) and one year each with the Iowa State University and University of Illinois volleyball programs.

Dietz has 24 years of experience as an instructor and coach at the junior high, high school and college levels. In 2013, he published his first coaching textbook titled The Human Side of Coaching with Championship Productions. His second book, Like Heck She Doesn’t Look Like a Volleyball Player, was released in 2017.

Dietz is married to Julie (Tresnak) Dietz. They have two adult children, a third in high school and three dogs (Kaiju, Jaeger and Spike).

TIFFANY SUNDERLIN Assistant Volleyball Coach [email protected] Tiffany Sunderlin returns to Lincoln Land Community College as an assistant coach after two seasons on the team at the University of Illinois-Springfield, transferring there after two stellar seasons at LLCC in 2014 and 2015. When she graduated from LLCC, Sunderlin held the record kills in a season, career kills and career points scored. In 2015, she was selected as a First-Team All-American, helping lead LLCC to its first Final Four appearance.

Sunderlin has three years of club coaching experience, and since 2017 has been the Riverton Junior High seventh grade head coach. She is Impact and SafeSport certified and also worked previously as a USAV referee.

Jen begins her eighth year as the athletic trainer for the Loggers. She is employed by HSHS St. John’s Hospital/AthletiCare. Prior to working for LLCC, Jen worked in the high school setting for four years. Jen received her bachelor’s degree and master’s degree in Athletic Training from Illinois State University. Prior to attending ISU, Jen played volleyball for two seasons at Lincoln Christian College (now Lincoln Christian University).

HANNAH BROWN #9 Freshman • 5’5” • Defensive Specialist Chatham, IL Brown played at Glenwood High School, starting for three seasons. The Titans finished 21-13, losing to Metro-East Lutheran in the regional semifinal. Brown holds the single- season and career records for digs at Glenwood. Brown played club with Capital Area Volleyball, playing for Jim Hunstein (Blackburn College) and Nikki Binetti (Illinois College).

KILEY BRUNSTEIN #12 Freshman • 5’9” • Outside Hitter Jacksonville, IL Brunstein was a three-year starter at Jacksonville High School where she was a team captain in 2018, finishing with 232 kills, 318 digs and 53 blocks. She was All-Central State Eight, All-Metro, and Springfield All-Area as a senior and selected as a starter for the Central Illinois All-Star Game. Brunstein played club volleyball with Jacksonville Network.

OLIVIA DOUR #16 Freshman • 5’10” • Middle Hitter Beardstown, IL Dour is from Beardstown High School where she was a team captain in 2018. The Tigers finished with a 25-5 record before being beaten by State Final Four team Quincy Notre Dame. She was All-Prairieland Conference four consecutive seasons, All-Metro as a junior and senior, and Springfield All-Area as a senior. She was selected as a starter for the Central Illinois All-Star Game. Dour played club volleyball with Jacksonville Network. Her brother and father are both former pitchers for the Lincoln Land Community College squad.

DELANEY EDWARDS #6 Sophomore • 5’7” • Outside Hitter Sherman, IL Edwards was a three-year starter at Williamsville High School, all-conference as a senior and selected as a starter for the Central Illinois All-Star Game. Her 2017 LLCC season saw balanced stats with 37 aces, 38 blocks, 219 digs and 237 digs while serving as a primary passer. Her best match was against top-10 Kirkwood Community College with one ace, one block, nine digs and 12 kills (hitting .625). Edwards played club volleyball for Capital Area Volleyball under the tutelage of Illinois College Head Coach Kristy Duncan.

#11 LAINEY JACKSON Sophomore • 5’8” • Setter Toledo, IL Jackson was a four-year letter winner at Cumberland High School earning all-conference honors all four seasons (including three first-team selections) and all-area three times. In 2017, she was named MWAC Freshman of the Year, finishing second for LLCC in aces (58) and assists (617) even while missing three weeks with an injury. Jackson’s best match was against Kansas’ best team, Cowley County, where she tallied two aces, 13 digs and 21 assists.

#1 BOBANA MARUSIC Sophomore • 5’8” • Libero/Outside Hitter Belgrade, Serbia

Marusic played for Crnjanski Volleyball, leading the squad to a Serbian Regional title in 2016. Marusic is multi-talented, playing competitive and as a certified member of the Josif Pancic Mountaineering Society. In 2017 at LLCC, Marusic led the Loggers in digs while tallying 44 aces. Her best match was versus Parkland College in the NJCAA third place match where she tallied two aces and 21 digs. Marusic was an NJCAA academic all-American in 2017-2018.

#10 ASHLEY MELTON Freshman • 6’ • Middle Hitter Mackinaw, IL Melton was a two-year starter for perennial power Dee-Mack (Deer Creek-Mackinaw), leading her team to a Regional and Sectional title, in addition to being part of Dee- Mack’s 2014 state championship squad. The Lady Chiefs finished 29-7-1 in 2017 with Melton selected to the Heart of Illinois all-conference team. Melton comes from the same program as LLCC all-Americans Emily Orrick and Addie Patton.

#13 ERIKA MILLER Sophomore • 5’11” • Middle Hitter/Opposite Monticello, IL

Miller is a transfer sophomore from Kankakee Community College who previously played high school volleyball for Monticello High School. As a high school senior, Miller was honored as an all-conference and all-area player for leading the Sages in kills and blocks. At Kankakee, Miller finished 2017 with 274 kills and averaged more than one block per set. She was named first team all-NJCAA Region IV.

JAKYA PEALER #14 Freshman • 5’7” • Setter Decatur, IL

Pealer comes from MacArthur High School where she started for four years including two as an outside hitter. Pealer was named to the All-Macon County squad in 2016 and 2017 and All-CS8 in 2017. Pealer played club volleyball with Champaign/Decatur’s High Performance VBC.

MAREE TAIG #18 Sophomore • 5’11” • Middle Hitter/Opposite Melbourne, Australia

In 2016, Taig started for Australia’s U-19 Victoria State Team, winning silver at the Australian national championships. With LLCC, Taig saw action in 26 matches in 2017. Her best match was against D-1 Lake Land, registering two blocks, three digs and six kills (hitting .857). After graduation, Taig plans to become a secondary school math teacher. She was named NJCAA Academic All-American as a freshman.

MOLLY TAUKE #15 Freshman • 5’9” • Outside Hitter Rock Island, IL Tauke played at Moline High School, starting for two seasons. The Movin’ Maroons finished 27-8-1, falling in the sectional title game. Tauke was All-Western Big Six in 2016 and 2017, and in 2017 was named Quad Cities Area Player of the Year and selected to the Champaign News-Gazette All-State squad. Her sister, Meghan, played at perennial KJCCC volleyball power Johnson County Community College.

TAYLOR THOMAS #5 Freshman • 5’5” • Defensive Specialist Bartonville, IL

Thomas played at Limestone High School, serving as captain in 2018. Thomas helped lead the Rockets to a best-ever record of 34-5, tallying 428 digs before falling in the state super-sectionals. Thomas is a multi-sport athlete, also starring at . In addition, Thomas is an honor roll student and president of the Limestone High School Student Council. She played club volleyball with Central Illinois Elite VBC.
