The journal publishes high quality original research, review articles, case reports and brief communications. Types of Article The following manuscripts will be considered for publication. Full Length Articles are reports of original work. (5-6,000 words) Review Articles constitute a literature review of a particular area and can be clinical or concentrate on a basic science topic. (5-6,000 words) Case Reports concerning interesting and topical cases or treatments of interest to researchers in our field. (1,500 words, 10 references, up to 4 figures or 4 tables) Submission checklist You can use this list to carry out a final check of your submission before you send it to the journal for review. AUTHOR INFORMATION PACK 1 Oct 2021 www.elsevier.com/locate/tru 3 Studies in humans and animals If the work involves the use of human subjects, the author should ensure that the work described has been carried out in accordance with The Code of Ethics of the World Medical Association (Declaration of Helsinki) for experiments involving humans. The manuscript should be in line with the Recommendations for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical Journals and aim for the inclusion of representative human populations (sex, age and ethnicity) as per those recommendations. The terms sex and gender should be used correctly. Authors should include a statement in the manuscript that informed consent was obtained for experimentation with human subjects. The privacy rights of human subjects must always be observed. All animal experiments should comply with the ARRIVE guidelines and should be carried out in accordance with the U.K. Animals (Scientific Procedures) Act, 1986 and associated guidelines, EU Directive 2010/63/EU for animal experiments, or the National Institutes of Health guide for the care and use of Laboratory animals (NIH Publications No. 8023, revised 1978) and the authors should clearly indicate in the manuscript that such guidelines have been followed. The sex of animals must be indicated, and where appropriate, the influence (or association) of sex on the results of the study. Informed consent and patient details Studies on patients or volunteers require ethics committee approval and informed consent, which should be documented in the paper. This interest in E-text was prompted by an inquiry to the Committee Chair by several faculty members who had questions about academic publisher presentations that were occurring on campus. Following from the Committee discussion, a Subcommittee was struck to examine the trends, tools and potential of e-text as it relates to academic resources. The Subcommittee held its first meeting on May xx, 2009 and established the initial Terms of Reference for the working group. The second meeting of the Subcommittee coincided with a guest visit from Dr. Richard Baraniuk (Rice University), invited keynote speaker for the U of S hosted Learning Commons Conference, June 2009. The Subcommittee was given an opportunity to meet with Dr. Baraniuk for a lively and informative discussion, which let to the Subcommittee decision to adjust the scope of its activity and include a broader view of the digital publishing environment. As e-book readers and other portable devices grow in popularity, collections can no longer be evaluated purely on the basis of content; their adaptability and ease of use on various platforms has to be taken to account. Collaboration between libraries, users and usability professionals is paramount in building virtual collections of the future. Only users can tell how these platforms are going to be used, as mobile tools for study or as entertainment devices. It is important to learn how usable the e-collections really are and what essential materials are currently incompatible with these devices. Electronic rights management and technical compatibility issues should become standard considerations in all acquisition of electronic materials. This paper will present a study conducted in the Helsinki University of Technology Library, now a part of the Aalto University, from autumn of 2009 until summer of 2010. In collaboration with the Strategic Usability Research Group, various e-book readers were tested by both professionals and students. In the study, e-book readers were given to students for one study period with all the course material provided in electronic format.
