Biodiverse Agri Trainings to Youth with help from Friends of Earth

in India, USA, Europe and world over through Global Giving

During VOICE Trust’s participation in Climate Adaptation Conference in World Bank in November 2009, Introduction to Global Giving happened. In October 2010 Open Challenge, VOICE Trust was accepted as one of the many collaborators of Global Giving world over. The main project is to encourage youth to learn nature centric technologies for continuing agriculture for the following purposes:

 Agriculture for poison – free food production.  Agriculture for pollution – free environment.  Agriculture for poverty - free communities and society.

Target was to train 1500 youth every year in bio diverse agriculture. After completing many trainings, a new focus emerged for enabling 1320 youth (6 per village in 220 villages with equal women participation). These 1320 youth required regular follow ups and support for implementing techniques / technologies. Because of their involvements in this project supported by many through Global Giving, no agriculture land has been sold during in the past year in the context of 21 % agri land sold during previous 5years. Now, they need tools kits for extending nature farming services to small farm families

2017-2018 Activities Agro Forestry

Growing of Trees in Agricultural Lands for eco- economic gains under TBGP (Tamilnadu Biodiversity conservation and Greening Project) through M.R.Palayam Forest Extension Division of Forest Department

Till the middle of 20th Century, Farm Fields were like forests with different species of trees and herbals on the fence. Mono cropping trends upset this biodiversity and allowed pests to reign supreme.

In order to maintain pest – predator balance and also to revive forest like farm fields, Greening Tamil Nadu Project was launched in 2011 by Forest Department in collaboration with Japanese Government. VOICE Trust has been chosen to motivate farmers in villages of Mannachanallur, Lalgudi and Pullambadi Unions. Around 3, 00,000 Trees have been planted in the lands of individual farmers. Every year new villages are added to increase green cover in parts of Trichy District.
