MINNESOTA WILD ACQUIRES FORWARD AND CONDITIONAL FIFTH-ROUND SELECTION IN 2019 NHL ENTRY DRAFT FROM BOSTON IN EXCHANGE FOR

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Wild General Manager Paul Fenton today announced the (NHL) club has acquired forward Ryan Donato and a conditional fifth-round selection in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft from the in exchange for forward Charlie Coyle.

Donato, 22 (4/9/96), has recorded nine points (6-3=9) in 34 games with Boston this season and 12 points (7-5=12) in 18 contests with the in the (AHL). The 6-foot, 193-pound native of Boston, Mass., collected 104 points (60-44=104) in 97 career games with Harvard University in three seasons (2015-18). He was a finalist for the 2018 Hobey Baker Award, given to the top player in NCAA Division I hockey. The left-shot forward was also named to the 2017 ECAC Second All-Team, 2018 ECAC First All-Star Team, 2018 ECAC Player of the Year and to the 2018 NCAA East First All-American Team during his tenure with Harvard.

He registered nine points (5-4=9) in 12 matches with the Bruins during the 2017-18 campaign after signing a two-year contract with Boston on March 18, 2018. The son of former Bruins forward and NHL veteran , Ryan was originally selected by Boston in the second round (56th overall) in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut on Oct. 3, 2018 at Washington. Donato has also represented the United States twice. He was a member of the bronze-medal winning U.S. National Junior Team at the 2016 IIHF World Junior Championship in Helsinki, Finland, collecting four points (3-1=4) in seven games. Donato led the United States in goals and scoring (5-1=6) at the 2018 Olympic Games in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He ranked T-1st in the tournament in goals. Donato will wear sweater No. 6 with Minnesota.

Coyle, 26 (3/2/92), has registered 28 points (10-18=28) in 60 games with Minnesota this season. The 6-foot-3, 219-pound native of East Weymouth, Mass., owns 242 career points (91-151=242) in 479 career NHL contests with the Wild and added 15 points (7-8=15) in 44 Playoff games with Minnesota.
