Travel Directions to the School of Informatics

The School of Informatics is located in the , 10 Crichton Street, EH8 9AB. The major cross streets are Potterrow and West Nicolson Street; close to the Mosque and Islamic Centre.

Travel to the Informatics Forum from Waverley Station

By taxi. Crichton Street is on the west side of Potterrow; opposite the Mosque and Islamic Centre. The Informatics Forum is a white building, the first building on the right when you turn onto Crichton Street from Potterrow.

By bus. On exiting the station, head west along until you come to . Turn left at the Mound, (turn left as soon as you pass the Art Galleries; do not cross the road). At the first bus stop get a number 42 bus which will eventually take you along Potterrow where the mosque is located. Ask the driver to give you a call when the bus reaches the mosque. Crichton Street is opposite the mosque. The frequency of the service is 20 minutes and the duration of the journey is 15 to 20 minutes. All are correct fares only (no change given) and the cost of a single journey is £1.10p (all day fare is £2.50).

Important Note: As Edinburgh prepares for its new tram routes in 2012, bus traffic is often rerouted. As of writing, the number 42 bus is rerouted past (the west exit to Waverley Station instead of The Mound. Exit the station using the Waverley Bridge exit; turn left on Waverley Bridge and the bus stop is located on the left.

Travel to the Informatics Forum from the Airport

If taking a taxi from the airport to the Informatics Forum, the fare should be about £20. Crichton Street is on the west side of Potterrow; opposite the Mosque and Islamic Centre. The Informatics Forum is a white building, the first building on the right when you turn onto Crichton Street from Potterrow.

If travelling by bus from the airport take the airport express bus Route 100. The cost of the bus is £3 single per person or £5 open return per person. The frequency of buses is roughly every 10 minutes and the journey time to Edinburgh city centre is about 25 minutes. Ask the driver to let you off at the nearest point to The Mound where you can pick up a Route 42 bus to take you to the Informatics Forum. The frequency of the service is 20 minutes and the duration of the journey is 15 to 20 minutes. Ask the driver to give you a call when the bus reaches the mosque. The terminus for the airport express bus Route 100 is on Waverley Bridge, opposite the entrance to Waverley Station. Walk across the road (to the station side) and you will see the stop for the rerouted 42 bus.
