California Yacht Club Junior Program Summer 2021 New Sailors Program

CYC Summer Season 2021 The adventure of the summer…the sport of a lifetime.

The CYC Jr. Sailing Program “Summer Sessions” are scheduled to begin on Monday June 14 and run on a Monday through Friday basis through August 6th.

Each session is two weeks long and features 10 days of instruction.

From August 6th through August 15th the program goes on hiatus while CYC hosts the J-70 World Championship Regatta. All sailors are encouraged to get involved with regatta operations. A Wold Championship is an enormous opportunity to learn what racing is all about.

After the regatta we finish the season with one additional 5 day session from Monday August 16th through Friday, August 20th.

The Jr. Awards Banquet will be held the evening of August 26th and will be an opportunity to unite and celebrate our accomplishments of the summer.

Our program this summer will be broken down into a New Sailors Program and a Jr. Racing Program. “Inside of everyone There is a lighthouse A place you can go Where the light never goes out A place where the waves Wash everything away And all that is left Is what is HERE to stay…” Joining the CYC Junior Program is an incredible opportunity to become a member of a celebrated community of sailors.

Building friendships, having fun, learning and growing together are the treasured values of our program. Whether our skippers go on to be olympic racers, cruisers, sail professionally or simply become occasional sailors, the bonds and friendships formed over a summer together can build lifelong relationships. CYC Junior Sailors take pride in who they are, stand with integrity, character, support each other and our community community and know that their actions and accomplishments represent not only themselves, but all of us, our program and our club. Each sailor should strive to pursue excellence in their sailing ability and be excited to become a “lighthouse” that burns bright in any weather and is always “here to stay”.

Based on instructor and coaching evaluations, current sailor skill level, racing interest, skipper and family input we will determine the proper placement for each sailor. Throughout the summer the, skippers will be encouraged to increase their skills and move to the next highest sailing tier. The New Sailors skippers are placed into three groups: Mates = Beginners Jr. Skippers = Level 1 & 2 Skippers = Intermediate sailors

Skill Level Fleet Time Mate/Beginner RS Tera 9AM to 1PM

Jr. Skipper/Level 1 & 2 RS Tera/Opti 9AM to 1PM

Skipper/Intermediate 9AM to 1PM

Classes will be held on a Monday through Friday basis. Sailors should bring their own lunch or be prepared to purchase lunch from the club.

For members the cost is $850. Per sailor for each 2 week session.

For non-members the cost is $1,050. Per sailor for each 2 week session.

Session five will be pro-rated to half the above prices.

All times are estimates and will be confirmed once we have a clearer sense of enrollment, the associated lesson plans and coaching resources required to suit the overall need of our enrollment.

Regatta registration fees are additional.
