Cricket

Our Cricketers were involved in a competitive block on Saturday against Reading Blue Coat School. The 1st XI produced a strong display with Joe Kooner- Evans (5 for 23) being the pick of the bowlers. The top order then produced a clinical run chase with Alex Willoughby (92 ) and Charlie Dean (60 not out) putting together an impressive partnership.

The U15A's also displayed maturity in their run chase victory with Jack Pearce (94) and Chris Pratt (69) leading the way with the bat. Early in the match Henry Woolf took 3 . The U15B's were involved in a high scoring match with runs being scored by James Charlie Dean , 60 (not out) v Reading BC Crundwell (38), Cameron Clarke (40) and Robert Mitchell (48).

In the U14A fixture Rory Buckeridge (50 retired) and Alex Davidson (70 retired) put together an impressive 140 run first partnership. The U14B's remain unbeaten for the season after victory on Friday afternoon against Churcher's College as well as a 12 run victory against Reading Blue Coat on Saturday. William Jones (44) and Henry Simmons (33) put together a fine 2nd wicket partnership.

In the U13A fixture Oliver Jameson (34) and Luke Alex Willoughby, 92 (not out) v Reading BC Anstey and William Parvin (2 wickets each) produced valuable contributions. Rohan Sesetti and Oliver Durrant both scored 25 in the U13B fixture.

The U12A's were involved in an exciting match with Jake Power (25), Jack Lee (26) and Max Povey and Toby Foord (both 30) all providing valuable contributions with the bat. Finally in the U12B fixture James Livermore scored an impressive 46.

Will Parvin, 102 in the U13 County Cup Rounders

The U14 rounders team showed great improvement with the bat, scoring 15 against St. John's College. Grace Saunders was voted batter of the match after a fantastic display. Grace Beardsley's fast bowling and solid fielding work inside the diamond earned her the award of Fielder of the Match.

U14 Rounders team Athletics There were fantastic performances from PGS pupils who were representing Portsmouth Schools at the Hampshire Schools Championships at the Mountbatten Centre on Saturday.

County champions were Jack Norton Inter Boys High Jump 1.90m, Toby Amos Discus 31.59 and Poppy Herbert in the Junior Girls Pole Vault with a 2 metre jump.

In the Inter Girls Javelin two outstanding personal bests from Emma Holmes to finish 2nd with 31.02 and Poppy Wright finishing 4th with 28.26. Both of these girls really deserve this success as they have trained hard.

Minty Taylor continued to impress with a jump of 9.93 for 2nd place in the Triple Jump, having only taken up the event this year! She only missed winning by 1 centimetre.

Amanda Rees-Frometa had another outstanding day with a personal best in the Long Jump achieving third place with 4.92 and came 7th in the final of the 100m. Toby Amos, Hants discuss champion Will Hicks fought bravely in the hard event of 300m and came third in the final with a personal best of 41.4s. Rosie Harfield continues to improve with third place in the Inter Shot with 9.42m. John Yu was 3rd in the Junior Long Jump with 5.15m.

Other notable performances were: Georgina Lewis 4th in the Inter Girls Hurdles, Maya Russell 4th in Junior Javelin, Maya Shankar 6th in the 100m final, Matt Houlberg 6th in the 1500m and Maddie Hanrtrias with a personal best in the 800m of 2m.38s.

The U15 girls have qualified for the Hants track Congratulations to the many pupils have been selected to Knock out final compete for Hampshire in the Inter Counties match next Saturday. Thomas Millar (Hurdles) and Jack Norton (High Jump) have also both been selected to represent Hampshire at the English Schools championships.

Tennis

Matches against Bedales and Winchester early in the week fell victim to the weather, but U14s and U15s played good quality, competitive matches against Bryanston at the weekend. PGS won both with particular mention to Seb Martin and Will Northeast who won all three of their games.
