Technology’s reach is almost incalculable. She showed video of a robot doing metal work – something that we would hire a blacksmith to do over the past 500 years. Scientists had programmed a robot to do it instead.

“It is all about having a say in the world. What do you want to do with your life? For me, it’s about people taking advantage of technology without hindrances. My mother calls me trying to set up her printer. My goal is to break down the barriers to let people know they can work with technology,” Lewis said.

“No matter what you want to do with your life. If you work with metal, you’ll work with technology. Want to be a doctor? You’ll work with technology. Doctors are building limbs with robotics. Even if you don’t know what you want to accomplish, you can get a degree in IT and take that and start working, go make money. Or go further. Have that as a base, and go to a university and build a career on that. Then start making money and pay off all that debt.”

College Links Recently, Cougarcast sat down with Max Howard, www.collin.edu president of Exodus Film Group and the latest member of CougarWeb the Distinguished Speaker Series, which focused on View Credit Class Schedule "Innovation" for the 2009-10 year. View Continuing Education Schedule Admission & Registration Howard discussed the many animated films he's worked on in his 20-year career, which actually started out in the Financial Aid theater and transitioned to the animated big screen. Brent Fidler recently visited Collin College as part of the Book-in-Common program, which featured Matthew Pearl's The Poe Shadow.

Fidler is an independent filmmaker and actor. He portrayed Edgar Allen Poe in Poe: Last Days of the Raven, a film which he also wrote and directed. Listen to Fidler's interview here.

“The beef is from local cattle ranches and you can really tell the quality with almost no visible fat,” Bellville said. “Even the ground meats are made from their excess cuts which were further trimmed of fat before grinding. Prices are competitive and even if an item is a few cents more than at traditional grocery stores, the taste is tenfold and well worth it.”

The ecological footprint in the United States is about five times the world average. Given that the world ecological footprint reveals humans are exceeding the carrying capacity of the globe by an estimated 40 percent, then sustainability can only be something we strive to achieve. This field trip helped students to identify ways that they can personally reduce their ecological footprint by eating locally and eating organically.

Registration at Collin College can be done through CougarWeb. Students can find a log-in button to CougarWeb at the college’s website or go directly to http://cougarweb.collin.edu . Then go to the "Registration Tools" channel on the home tab. For help logging into the portal, call the Student Help Desk at 972.377.1777.

Through CougarWeb, registration is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. HOME Cougar Sports Corner May 1, 2010: Collin Men’s Tennis Ranked First in the Nation Number 582 The Collin College men’s tennis team finds itself No. 1 in the country in the latest NJCAA Division I national College Links rankings, followed by archrivals and www.collin.edu Laredo Community College at two and three, respectively. CougarWeb View Credit Class Schedule Between them, Laredo and Tyler have dominated the View Continuing Education Schedule rankings since 2002, and Laredo has won the five straight Admission & Registration national championships. Ranked consistently at Nos. 1 or 2 throughout the 1990s in Division II, this is the first time the Financial Aid Cougars have ever led the Division I tennis rankings.

The previous high for Collin College in Division I was in 2000, the year in which the two divisions were consolidated by the NJCAA. The Cougars came in third that year.

Collin can also boast a national number one in the individual rankings, as sophomore Damian Hume sits atop the singles charts. Several other Cougars are also highly ranked in the latest poll, including sophomores Danny Heidecker (9), Jordan Rozenfeld (16), and freshman Rodolfo Bustamantie (21).
