“To be a champion, you have to learn to handle stress and pressure. But if you’ve prepared mentally and physically, you don’t have to worry.”

This is a special time for each student-athlete, coach, administrator, and college affiliated individual to celebrate his or her team’s achievements. I encourage each of you to leave all of your efforts on the playing field and do this with the highest sportsmanship and college pride. The hardest part of competing for a national championship is simply getting there and each of you have already conquered that challenge.

This opportunity may only come once, so cherish these moments. Each of you are physically and mentally prepared to earn the right to call yourselves National Champions, so appreciate all of the acts of support, opportunity, and ability that lead you here. Maintain your integrity and character, as this will represent your solid foundation of success for years to follow. Life will pass you by very quickly, so embellish the moments and find ways to open future doors for those who follow your footsteps.

You have worked hard and invested greatly to get to this stage, so at the end of the day know that Mia Hamm had this to say, “I’ve worked too hard and too long to let anything stand in the way of my goals. I will not let my teammates down and I will not let myself down.”

Best of luck,

Dr. Christopher J. Parker CEO/Executive Director
