It is certainly a view with which I concur, and when I hear this my mind often turns to thinking just why should this be so. There are many factors come to mind such as our lovely surroundings, our many social groups, focused on the Memorial Hall, the Hotel, our Churches, schools. societies, pubs and, of course, the shop. Maybe we should bear all these things in mind if we wish to maintain this happy state of affairs. Another factor I think important is the comparative tidiness and lack of litter in our villages. We all have an opportunity to contribute to this by volunteering for one of the ideas suggested on page eleven. Sometimes we find that some of our many visitors don’t share such high standards, and we need to compensate and clear up after them, but let’s not believe that all visitors are so minded - I heard that parties camping on the beach made sure they left everything as clean, if not cleaner, than they found it. This month the Rame Peninsula Crime figures indicated there were no reported crimes in our Parish. More reason to congratulate ourselves, if only for not getting caught! I DON’T believe it! By Grumpy old Git Question: If you could live forever, would you and why? Answer: I would not live forever, because we should not live forever, because if we were supposed to live forever, then we would live forever, but we cannot live forever, which is why I would not live forever," --Miss Alabama in the 1994 Miss USA contest. "Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that, but not with all those flies and death and stuff." Mariah Carey "Smoking kills. If you're killed, you've lost a very important part of your life," -- Brooke Shields, during an interview to become spokesperson for federal anti-smoking campaign. Think on this: Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit; Wisdom is knowing not to put it in a fruit salad. 5 SPN 95 December 15 Sheviock Memorial Hall, Crafthole December 2015 Whoever reads this column we, The while away those winter months Trustee Management Committee , behind closed doors , in front of a TV wishes you a very Happy Christmas or something, when on their doorstep and a Prosperous New year. are so many activities. Tip of the Quarter This time two tips on opening jar lids. One do and one don’t. Don’t I had a jar of my favourite chutney from my favourite chutney producer. The lids on these tend to seal very well due to the vacuum created during production. Having unsuccessfully tried all manner of ways I got my chain wrench from the garage - the one I use for removing oil filters- and ended up with a messy mix of chutney and broken glass. So Don’t try that method. Do So I had a look on line, as you do, and came up with this gem. Tap the lid with a spoon, or some-such, and the seal will be broken, allowing easy removal of the lid. Thinking this all looks a bit too good to be true, I tried it, and it worked. So Do try this method. 7 SPN 95 December 15 Crafthole and District Open Flower CRAFTHOLE COMMUNITY SHOP and Vegetable Show Wishing ALL OUR CUSTOMERS, VOLUNTEERS AND After the outstanding success of the 2015 Show DIRECTORS with so many high quality entries, the Show in “A Happy Christmas and every blessing as we 2016 will be a hard act to follow.
