Will of Dr. Francis Burke, Archbishop of Tuam. a a (From copy of the original transcribed into volume of Wills of the Diocese of Tuam.) was to [Dr. Burke appointed Coadjutor Dr. James Lynch, Arch of 20th, 1713, and succeeded to the See in the bishop Tuam, Sept. Secondly I bequeath all my black cattle and sheep my cozin and faithful! servant Elizabeth Kelly together with all my household stuff, pewter, mettall, and brass, allso all my beds and bed cloaths and linen; thirdly I order that if the expenses of my distemper and funerall, which funerall I beg may be discretly, without noise or any sort of ostentation performed will leave any money in ye hands of as the said Elizabeth Kelly it may be distributed Father Dinis Kelly as shall think fitt legacies to the priests of this Diocese of Tuam ; fourthly vestments to I bequeath all my books, and ornaments Far. [Dr. Skerrett, appointed Bishop of Killala, January 23rd, 1749, and same translated thence to Tuam May 5th, year, died in 1785.?See Special. Ossorien. Vol. III., p. 459.] son Memorandum that both my nephews Dominick and [his] John Skerrett's Bond for five hundred Pounds str. the income of wch is to or suc be paid to Messrs Stephen Lynch1 and Thomas Kirwan2 their cessors Priests in the Diocess in office to be paid to the poorest Parish is laid of Tuam in ye same manner as far. George M'Manus his money 1 1762.? Father Stephen Lynch was Dean of Tuam, May 24th, " " was of the Parish of Ballinrobe in {Spicil. Ossor, iii. 274), and Priest 1766. 2Father Thomas Kirwan was a Canon of Tuam, 24th, 1762 (Spicil. 1781. On the Oss., iii. 274), and was Archdeacon of Tuam, Sept. 14th, Arch I9th Nov., 1782, he was registered as P.P. of Headford Parish, 1750. deacon of Tuam, aged 56 years, and a priest since VOL. II. Nota Bene that ten pounds a year of said income is to be paid to my niece Mary Geoghegan during her life. This money as when paid is to be lodged in some bank far. George's money is. This as is my last will in regard of this bond witness my hand this third day of April 1782 two. Mars, Skerrett. The Reverend Thomas Kirwan, the surviving trustee named in a certain Testamentary Instrument of the Revd. Marcus Skerrett, late of Tuam in the county of Galway, deced., and Michl. Berry of Tuam not in the said county, merchant, severally and respectively and the one for the other make oath and say That they knew and were intimately acquainted with said Revd. Marcus Skerrett, deced., for several years before and to the time of his death and with his the said deceased's and manner of often seen him character handwriting having very write. These severally say they have carefully viewed, perused and deponents " examd. a certain instrument Memorandum Testamentary beginning " That both my nephews Domk. and son John Skerrett's Bond and " " witness this third of two and sub ending " mjvhand day April 1782 scribed Mars. Skerrett." And these deponents say they verily and in their consciences believe that every word, letter and figure in the said paper writing contained is the proper handwriting of the said deced. Sworn this sixth day of March 1791. Thomas Kirwan. Before Michael Berry. Edward Burten, vicar of Annaghdown, &c, Commissioner. Administration of the goods and so forth with the last will and Testament or Instrument in of Testamentary writing the Rev. Thomas Kirwan the trustee of said Instrument so far as relates to surviving Testamentary sum five the of hundred pounds ster. secured by the joint bond of Domk. and but no or no exor. John Skerrett, Esqrs., further otherwise, or residuary legatee being therein named. Saving and so forth. Will of Dr. Walter Blake, Bishop of Achonry. (From the Prerogative Wills.) was [Dr. Blake appointed Bishop of Achonry, Aug. 13th, 1739, and died in 1758 (?Brady).] In the name of God. Amen. I, Walter Blake1 of Ballinafad in the county of Mayo, gent., being sick in body but perfect in my memory and understanding do make and declare this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills what soever. First I will and bequeath my soul to my Creator and Redeemer and my body to be interred in such decent manner as my executor shall think convenient. Secondly I will that all my just debts be immediately and first paid Thirdly I will and bequeath unto my beloved niece Catto Blake of sum ster. manner Clooneen the of three hundred pounds in following es vizt. The debt due by bond and judgemt. on the Brown of the Neal sd bond being passed to my nephew Maurice Blake of Clooneen in trust for likewise ster. due to me on sd me, fifty-nine pounds my nephew* out to Maurice. The remainder to be made up of my other effects sd. sum of three hundred ster. compleat pounds unto Anstace Fourthly I will and bequeath my beloved nieces and ster. to Bridget Blake of Clooneen twenty pounds be equally distri buted between them. one Fifthly I will and bequeath all my linnen and suit of cloaths I to cousn. have in Galway my John Blake of Knockmore. to Blake Sixthly I will and bequeath my books my nephew John of Dublin to be disposed of by him as I directed. unto cousns. Blake Seventhly I will and bequeath my Judy and French the sum of five ster. to each of them.
