99 NEWS OFFICIAL PUBLICATION OF THE NINETY-NINES® INC Amelia Earhart would agree that financial independence is the key to personal independence. There are over 7,600 open-end mutual funds in the USA, but only a select few that meet my investment criteria. I founded the Amelia Earhart: Eagle Equity Fund as a tribute to women of achievement who were leaders in their field and ahead of their time. Amelia Earhart was selected as the Fund’s namesake because of her courage, independence and sense of adventure. The "first lady ” of aviation was an author, educator and liberal thinker who at age 37 was at the top of her profession. The Amelia Earhart: Eagle Equity Fund focuses on technology, the key to the future. The Fund is true to its namesake. Review the historical performance of this fund before you make your next mutual fund investment. Contact (810) 351-4856for a prospectus containing more complete information including annual performance. There are no front end or contingent sales charges for registered Pilots. t Jill H. Send one copy to Ninety-Nine Oklahoma City, USA Headquarters. — Shirley Winn, International Nominating Chairman I OKLAHOMA CITY SITE FOR 1996 INTERNATIONAL CONVENTION T THE STROKE OF NOON April 22. 1889, a cavalryman fired the cannon that signaled the Great Land Run. Tens of thousands of settlers surged forward to grab their piece of glory and stake their claim on part of the more than two Amillion acres of the Unassigned Lands now open for settlement. By the end of the day there were towns and homesteads where once stood only lonely depots and train tracks. This was how 10.000 people settled in what is now Oklahoma City, the city bom in a single day. After a few weeks, the tents and bedrolls gave way to small frame houses and stores and soon, to more permanent structures of brick and stone.
