Through Week 5, the league-wide passer rating is 90.6, on pace to be the highest of any season in NFL history. The mark is also the second-highest of any NFL season through five weeks (90.7 in 2014). Nine individual qualifying passers have a passer rating of 100 or better, which is the most of any season through Week 5 in NFL history. Through Week 5, the league-wide completion percentage is 64.3 percent, the highest ever at this point in a season and on pace to be the best mark in NFL history for a full year. “Accuracy is the most important trait for a quarterback, as it directly impacts his ability to perform the central function of his job: getting the ball in his receivers’ hands,” says NFL.com analyst and former Cowboys vice president of player personnel GIL BRANDT. The top five quarterbacks this season in terms of passer rating (minimum 100 attempts) have led their respective teams to a combined record of 20-4 (.833). The top three leading passers have each led their respective teams to undefeated records in 2015. TOM BRADY leads the league with a 121.5 passer rating and has the Patriots off to a 4-0 start, while AARON RODGERS (117.4) and ANDY DALTON (115.6) have led the Packers and Bengals to 5-0 starts.
