The Airfield CHARTERED SURVEYORS • AUCTIONEERS • VALUERS • LAND & ESTATE AGENTS • FINE ART & FURNITURE ESTABLISHED 1860 IN ASSOCIATION WITH THE NORTH YORK MOORS QUALITY SHEEP SOCIETY 2019 SALE REPORTS FADMOOR & WOMBLETON 2019 15 Market Place, Malton, North Yorkshire, YO17 7LP Tel: 01653 697820 Fax: 01653 698305 Email: [email protected] Website: www.cundalls.co.uk WOMBLETON / FADMOOR SHEEP SALES 2019 Dear Vendor/Purchaser, This year’s first sale at Wombleton I think was the warmest September day ever recorded but from the rostrum in the dry conditions the sale was able to run very smoothly, but in contrast the Autumn seemed to get wetter and wetter and the later sales were made more difficult with the wet conditions. However we were able to cope very well at Fadmoor and the late sale at Wombleton on the hard standing was a great success. Entry numbers were down this year, which I think was general at all breeding sales in the region which influenced the higher demand for breeding sheep. The numbers of moor sheep at the Fadmoor sale were a little disappointing, however the trade for the Swale & Scot breeding sheep was significantly better than other outlets and I hope we are able to recover numbers to maintain this well established sale next year. The store lamb trade was very good at all of the sales, showing there is some confidence going forward from the finishing men. Let’s hope during the rest of this year we can elect a more positive government who can just get the job done! We can then settle down to see a good reward for our quality product. Again I thank all our sponsors, judges and members of the North Yorkshire Moors Quality Sheep Association for their continued support, together with all vendors and purchasers who attended the sales. Kind regards, Keith D Warters MRICS William Tyson BSc (Hons) MRICS FAAV T. 01653 697820 T. 01653 697820 M. 07850 915249 M. 07977 560109 E. [email protected] E. WOMBLETON SHEEP SALE, THURSDAY 19th SEPTEMBER 2019 Cundalls held their annual first show and sale of gimmer lambs and breeding sheep at Wombleton on Thursday. It was a perfect sunny day and all the sheep looked at their best in the in the open pens. There was a particularly high turnout of buyers in all departments with a near 100% clearance of stock entered. Despite with the continued uncertainty of Brexit, prices of the breeding sheep were a little better than last year with the Mule shearlings averaging £6.00/head better than last year and with the prize winning pen at £145 some £23.00 better than last year. Similar improvements were seen in the Suffolk and Texel cross sections of the sale. The mule gimmer lambs finished the day averaging £76.00 very much in line with last years price. The coveted Peter Woodall Salver for the best pen of Mule gimmer lambs was retained by Breck House Enterprises, whose lambs later sold for a very respectful £145. With the continued difficult trade in the finished lamb market store lambs were a little harder to place than last year but finished a very respectable average just £2.00 down on last year. The judges for the competitive classes were renowned local farmers and supporters of the sale, Mr Ian Ellis of Old Byland, Mr James Sowray of Terrington and Mr John Hicks of Cawton. The results of the shows were as follows: Best pen of Mule Gimmer lambs, (The Peter Woodall Salver) was awarded to Breck House Enterprise Ltd of Bransdale for their outstanding pen which realised £145 through the ring and purchased by local producer Mr John Hardisty, Westerdale. North York Moors and Cleveland Hills Area profile: Supporting documents Introduction National Character Areas map As part of Natural England’s responsibilities as set out in the Natural Environment 1 2 3 White Paper , Biodiversity 2020 and the European Landscape Convention , we are North revising profiles for England’s 159 National Character Areas (NCAs). These are areas East that share similar landscape characteristics, and which follow natural lines in the landscape rather than administrative boundaries, making them a good decision- Yorkshire making framework for the natural environment. & The North Humber NCA profiles are guidance documents which can help communities to inform their West decision-making about the places that they live in and care for. The information they contain will support the planning of conservation initiatives at a landscape East scale, inform the delivery of Nature Improvement Areas and encourage broader Midlands partnership working through Local Nature Partnerships. The profiles will also help West Midlands to inform choices about how land is managed and can change. East of England Each profile includes a description of the natural and cultural features that shape our landscapes, how the landscape has changed over time, the current key London drivers for ongoing change, and a broad analysis of each area’s characteristics and ecosystem services. Statements of Environmental Opportunity (SEOs) are South East suggested, which draw on this integrated information. The SEOs offer guidance South West on the critical issues, which could help to achieve sustainable growth and a more secure environmental future.

It seeks the origin ofthe parish system in the 7th century with the establishment of monasteria in accordance with the theory, the 'minster' hypothesis, that these were the minsters of the Middle Ages and the ancient parish churches of today. The territory of the monasterium, its parochia, was that of the secular royal vill, because kings granted these lands with the intention that monasteries provided pastoral care to the royal vill.
