School Bus Services in the Oldham Area September 2019 to July 2020 School Bus Services in the Oldham Area September 2019 to July 2020 Journeys in this leaflet operate on schooldays only, unless otherwise stated. Although provided primarily for school students, members of the public may use these services with the exception of Yellow School Buses. Services are listed alphabetically under school names. Oldham 2019-2020 website6 - 1 - 25/07/2019 15:07:00 An introduction to School buses and concessionary fares for students in Greater Manchester Passengers can pay a fare to the driver for each journey shown on this timetable. However, students will need to show an IGO pass to travel at the concessionary (reduced) fare. If students do not have an IGO pass, they will have to pay a higher fare. Most of the journeys shown in this timetable are funded by Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM). The majority of TfGM funded services charge a standard fare and also offer daily return tickets. In some cases, the return ticket can also be used for travel on other journeys which serve similar areas – even if it is provided by a different operator. On most services, students can also buy a weekly scholar’s ticket, which costs £7.40. These are ONLY valid on schooldays on school buses and are available from the bus driver on all services where they are applicable. To help the driver, please try to have the correct fare when buying your ticket. A summary of fares and ticketing information on all school services included in this timetable can be found at https://www.tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-school-bus-services There are also a small number of TfGM funded services where the operator sets the fares. You will need to check with the operator what fares are available. Yellow School Buses This timetable also shows the journeys operated by Yellow School Buses. Yellow School Bus journeys have special travel conditions and can only be used by students who hold a Yellow School Bus pass which is valid for that journey. Students who wish to use a Yellow School Bus should go to https://www.tfgm.com/tickets-and-passes/bus-yellow-school-buses for details on how to apply for a pass. The IGO Pass All students between the ages of 11 and 16 need an IGO pass if they wish to travel at the concessionary (reduced fare) rate on buses. The IGO pass is like an ID card and proves that the student is aged 16 or under. It must be carried on all journeys and shown to the driver before paying the fare. The IGO pass costs £10 and can only be bought by students who live, or go to school in Greater Manchester. More information on IGO and an application form to get an IGO pass is on the TfGM website at http://igo.tfgm.com Oldham 2019-2020 website6 - 2 - 25/07/2019 15:07:00 SCHOOLS SERVED PAGE: SCHOOL NAME: START: FINISH: 4-7 BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN COLLEGE 0900 1515 MTThF Broadway, Oldham, OL9 9QY 1345 W BLUE COAT SCHOOL 8-11 0845 1520 Egerton Street, Oldham OL1 3SQ 1405 Alt W 12 CO-OP ACADEMY FAILSWORTH 0835 1450 MTuWF Brierley Avenue, Failsworth, Manchester M35 9HA 1400 Th 13-14 CROMPTON HOUSE SCHOOL 0840 1520 TWTF Rochdale Road, High Crompton, Shaw, Oldham OL2 7HS 1440 M 15 NORTH CHADDERTON SCHOOL 0830 1430 Chadderton Hall Road, Chadderton, Oldham OL9 0BN 16 OASIS ACADEMY OLDHAM 0825 1450 Hollins Road, Hollinwood, Oldham OL8 4JZ 17 THE RADCLYFFE SCHOOL 0835 1500 MTTF Hunt Lane, Chadderton, Oldham OL9 0LS 1400 W 18 ROYTON & CROMPTON SCHOOL 0820 1510 Blackshaw Lane, Royton, Oldham OL2 6NT 19-20 SADDLEWORTH SCHOOL 0845 1525 MTTF High Street, Uppermill, Oldham OL3 6BU 1300 W 21-22 WATERHEAD ACADEMY 0840 1455 MTWT Huddersfield Road, Oldham OL4 3NY 1400 F Oldham 2019-2020 website6 - 3 - 25/07/2019 15:07:00 SCHOOL BUS OPERATORS IN THE OLDHAM AREA: RDT Rosso, Queensgate Bus Depot, Colne Road, Burnley Tel: 0345 60 40 110 BB10 1HH FM First Manchester, Wallshaw Street, Oldham Tel: 0161 627 2929 OL1 3TR GNW Go North West, Boyle Street, Cheetham, Tel: 0330 1234 121 Manchester M8 8UT MCT Manchester Community Transport, Crossley Park, Tel: 0161 946 9255 Crossley Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport SK4 5BF NM Nexus Move, 22 Old Street, Ashton under Lyne Tel: 0161 330 2090 OL6 6LB SM Stagecoach Manchester, Hyde Road, Ardwick, Tel: 0161 273 3377 Manchester M12 6JS STO Stotts Buses Ltd, 142-144 Lees Road, Oldham Tel: 0161 624 4200 OL4 1HT FOR LOCAL BUS & TRAIN INFORMATION TELEPHONE: 0871 200 22 33 (calls cost 12p per min from land lines, lines open 7am – 8pm Monday to Friday, 8am – 8pm Saturday, Sundays and Bank Holidays) or visit our website at www.tfgm.com Oldham 2019-2020 website6 - 4 - 25/07/2019 15:07:00 BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN COLLEGE (0900 – 1515 MTThF/1345 Wed) Effective 2 September 2019 YELLOW SCHOOL BUS SERVICE Y5: FOR USE BY YELLOW SCHOOL BUS PASS HOLDERS ONLY SHOLVER – MOORSIDE - BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN COLLEGE Service Y5 Operator Code: FM Operator Code: FM FM W NW SHOLVER, Pearly Bank 0750 BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN COLLEGE 1400 1530 Pennine Meadows 0755 Werneth, Frederick Street 1407 1537 Moorside 0801 Oldham, Bottom o’ th’ Moor 1415 1545 Oldham, Bottom o’ th’ Moor 0816 Moorside 1423 1553 Werneth, Frederick Street 0825 Pennine Meadows 1426 1556 BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN COLLEGE 0835 SHOLVER, Pearly Bank 1432 1602 ROUTE: From SHOLVER, Pearly Bank via Sholver Lane, Longfellow Crescent, Coleridge Road, Ripponden Road, Whinberry Way, Whitehall Lane Turf Pit Lane, Ripponden Road, Huddersfield Road, Bottom o ‘th’ Moor, Oldham Way, Manchester Street, Oxford Street, Block Lane, Wash Brook, Butler Green, Thompson Lane, Eaves Lane, Broadway to BLESSED JOHN HENRY NEWMAN RC COLLEGE. W. Harrison We are very sad to have to report that one of the new members of your committee, Peter Robinson, died last March. This was obviously a great loss to his family, and also to his friends, all to whom we extend our heart-felt condolences. Peter had only just commenced his service with the committee and was looking forward to help the Society grow. His loss is our sad loss. Your committee is still struggling to operate as well as we would wish due to a reduction in the number of trustees. There just aren’t enough to carry on the business of the Society properly. This year Charles Baumann has left the committee after many years of service when he undertook various tasks such as chairing lectures, organizing fund raising Flea Markets with me, publicising our events and other ventures as the need arose.

  • Secondary School and Sixth Form Performance PDF
Report to OVERVIEW AND SCRUTINY PERFORMANCE AND VALUE FOR MONEY SELECT COMMITTEE Secondary school and sixth form performance Portfolio Holder: Cllr Shaid Mushtaq, Cabinet Member for Education & Early Years Officer Contact: Richard Lynch, Director of Education, Skills & Early Years Report Author: Tony Shepherd, Head of Learning 12 March 2020 Purpose of the Report The purpose of this report is to provide Elected Members with a review of secondary school and sixth form performance. Executive Summary In 2020 the pandemic caused the closure of schools and cancellation of examinations. Students were awarded their centre assessment grade or calculated grade, whichever was higher. This increased grades and meant that results for 2020 could not be directly compared to other years. In addition, performance data is not available at the school level, making 2020 analysis very limited. This paper provides a performance overview by summarising 2020 published data and reflecting on trends in 2017-2019 published data. In 2020, GCSE and A’ level outcomes for Oldham pupils were below national averages and the gaps between Oldham and national averages were wider than previously. The trends from 2017 to 2019 show a widening gap between GCSE and A’ level outcomes in Oldham and those nationally. Recommendations To note the report and actions planned to address areas of under-performance. Overview and Scrutiny Board Tuesday, 2 March 2021 Secondary school and sixth form performance 1 Background 1.1 This paper provides an update to the Overview and Scrutiny Board on secondary school and sixth form performance in Oldham. 1.2 Performance of pupils in exams are generally norm-referenced, so a similar proportion of grades are awarded each year.

LBP0018 Written evidence submitted by The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium Education Select Committee Left behind white pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds Inquiry SUBMISSION FROM THE NORTHERN POWERHOUSE EDUCATION CONSORTIUM Introduction and summary of recommendations Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium are a group of organisations with focus on education and disadvantage campaigning in the North of England, including SHINE, Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) and Tutor Trust. This is a joint submission to the inquiry, acting together as ‘The Northern Powerhouse Education Consortium’. We make the case that ethnicity is a major factor in the long term disadvantage gap, in particular white working class girls and boys. These issues are highly concentrated in left behind towns and the most deprived communities across the North of England. In the submission, we recommend strong actions for Government in particular: o New smart Opportunity Areas across the North of England. o An Emergency Pupil Premium distribution arrangement for 2020-21, including reform to better tackle long-term disadvantage. o A Catch-up Premium for the return to school. o Support to Northern Universities to provide additional temporary capacity for tutoring, including a key role for recent graduates and students to take part in accredited training. About the Organisations in our consortium SHINE (Support and Help IN Education) are a charity based in Leeds that help to raise the attainment of disadvantaged children across the Northern Powerhouse. Trustees include Lord Jim O’Neill, also a co-founder of SHINE, and Raksha Pattni. The Northern Powerhouse Partnership’s Education Committee works as part of the Northern Powerhouse Partnership (NPP) focusing on the Education and Skills agenda in the North of England.
