Yes____no______ Student Signature: _____________________________ Parent Signature: ______________________________ The Cast of Characters: 1. Trevor: The Company’s stage manager. Is a source of many errors. 2. Chris: The Companies director who also plays Mr. Darling, and Captain Hook. Chris intends to see the show through, no matter what happens. 3. Robert: Robert is a pompous actor who makes selfish choices because he believes them to be right. He plays the roles of Nana the Dog, Peter’s Shadow and Starkey 4. Francis: The professional amongst them all. He plays the narrator and tries his best to right the ship. 5. Cecco: A crew member of Captain Hook 6. Sandra: The lead actress who plays Wendy. She tries a little too hard to be more than she is. 7. Dennis: Dennis is a forgetful actor; in fact, he has to wear a headset so they can feed his lines to him. This leads to repeating everything that is said on the headset. Even if it does not need to be said…. 8. Annie: Truly the best actress of them all. She plays the role of Mrs. Darling, Lisa, Tinkerbell, and Tiger Lily. Often she has to switch rapidly between different characters. 9. Max: Not a very good actor, but he tries his best. In fact, he is only here because is uncle donated a large amount of money. He plays the roles Michael, Mermaid, and the crocodile. 10. Jonathan: An actor who is full of himself. He plays Peter Pan. 11. Lucy: Lucy is the niece of Chris. She is terrified to be performing in this show. This is seen in her repeated stuttering on stage. 12. Assistant Stage Manager 1 and 2: Thought they have no lines, these characters are in the heart of the action. Often coming to rescue when something does go wrong. Pick one of the following monologues and memorize it. However, be prepared to read the other monologues just in case Mr. Kevin asks you to. Chris: Good evening, ladies and gentlemen and welcome to the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’s Christmas production of J.M Barrie’s classic Peter Pan. We’re hugely excited to present Peter Pan this year we’ve managed to secure a much larger budget than usual thanks to a sizeable donation from the uncle of one of our cast members, Max. This generous cash injection has meant that tonight's production will certainly outshine last year’s rather underfunded Christmas show: Jack and the Bean. It’s true we’ve made some mistakes in the past. In one of our previous productions, due to an ill-timed haircut Rapunzel had to be imprisoned in a bungalow. However, this year is going to be different. Francis: All children, except one, grow up. Wendy discovered that she would grow up when she was very young. She was at a picnic and her mother said the words ‘Oh I wish you could stay like this forever’, and then she knew. It is this very Wendy, Wendy Moira Angela Darling, along with her two brothers Michael, and John, who begin our story. Sandra: That is not Nana’s unhappy bark; it is how she barks when she senses danger. She must sense the boy who visited this room. It’s not nonsense father. Mother and I saw him the other evening; he slipped away through the window. Mother ran to slam it shut before he could escape but he was too nimble, the window shut and we caught just his shadow, which started dancing across the room. Dennis: (holds Headset) Captain! We shall find the lost Boys at …(radio feedback) you’re listening to Classic FM. That was the Violin Concerto in A minor by Johann Bach. What a goal! A dramatic last- minute equalizer. Denis we are experiencing some radio interference, please stop repeating everything you hear, No don’t repeat what I just said. No. Stop it! These aren’t lines… stop repeating what I’m saying… no don’t repeat that either… stop repeating me.. Stop repeating… Robert (speaking unintelligibly in pirate speak) Disgraceful! That boy has no manners, Captain. Don’t you agree, Percy? (Talks with is pirate puppet) Disgraceful! Disgraceful. I do agree, Starkey. (Unintelligible pirate speak) Ay, Percy knows how it is. What’s your plan, Captain? Shall we hop down the chimney and fright them all? A trap you say? Most wicked and most pretty, Captain Hook! You are a true pirate indeed. .

  • Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ - the Cambridge Arts Theatre, Cambridge – Tuesday 12Th November 2019 - Departing School: 6Pm, Approximate Return Time: 10.45Pm
SCO/SCK 20th June 2019 Dear Parents and Carers, Re: ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ - The Cambridge Arts Theatre, Cambridge – Tuesday 12th November 2019 - Departing School: 6pm, Approximate Return Time: 10.45pm We have secured 65 tickets for an evening performance for Year 10 and 11 Drama GCSE students to see ‘Peter Pan Goes Wrong’ on Tuesday 12th November 2019. Seeing live theatre is a mandatory part of the course which forms part of the written exam. Students need to see a wide range of theatre in order to enable them to fully prepare them for their exam. We have had to book early as this is a sell-out show that is on tour from the renowned Mischief Theatre Company, and due to the popularity of this show, we have not been able to secure enough tickets for the whole cohort. Therefore, this trip will be on a ‘first come, first served’ basis, with priority given to next year’s Year 11 students. The cost of the ticket, including transport to and from the theatre, will be £45, which is a discounted rate for a group booking. If you would like to contact the school to discuss a payment plan or have a concern about finances then please contact the school office, as we may be able to offer assistance. Please note, however, that if you have any outstanding monies following attendance at previous performances, then your child will not be able to attend this one until the outstanding payment has been made. You will need to make arrangements to pick your child up from the school on our return, which will be at approximately 10.45pm.

We are thrilled that the Cornley University Drama Society is performing in the USA. We can only apologise to those involved in the production of Equus originally scheduled for this week, which due to a clerical error, is now being performed in the Cornley University Gymnasium. We hope there are no hard feelings and we’ve left the vaulting horse out for you. The question everyone at Cornley has been asking is: are we ready for a venue of this size? The answer is “yes.” The cast and I rehearsed for weeks using only the best acting teachings to inspire us. We read that Sanford Meisner once said, “Acting is behaving truthfully,” so we immediately changed all the names in the play to our own names and cut the murder, the manor house setting and any other element that we hadn’t personally experienced.

  • April Newsletter Final Corrected
The Rattigan The Newsletter of The Terence Rattigan Society April 2017 Issue No. 20 Version DAVID SUCHET - OUR NEW PRESIDENT Members will be delighted to learn that, following the death of our inaugural President, Princess Galitzine, David Suchet has accepted our invitation to become our President. David has been a supportive Vice-President since the launch in the centenary year when he planted a commemorative tree in the garden of the Actors’ Church, Covent Garden, where Sir Terence Rattigan CBE has a plaque on the north wall above that of Sir Noël Coward. As members may recall, this event began as a theatrical occasion in the church when David gave the tribute, written by his fellow Vice-President, Geoffrey Wansell. David spoke again, after planting the tree and this turned out to be an amusing, as well as moving, occasion. He began his speech by talking about trees “an extraordinary piece of nature and symbolic of the life of a human being… when suddenly the church bells rang out the TWELVE NOON CHIMES. David had to pause, but in true music hall tradition he included the interruption into his words. “It never happens on stage….Talk amongst yourselves” and when the chimes had stopped, he said “I think this is Terry’s joke, actually. Timing is everything”. He then continued his intended speech. He made his third speech of the day in the Irving Room at The Garrick Club, after of Sir Terence and his work. I have assured David that, as receiving his Vice-Presidential scroll, drawing attention to President, he will not be asked to perform any additional the way in which Rattigan’s plays have a quality duties, but to have his support and his name on our reminiscent of musical composition.
