Hoy en día, lamentablemente, hemos tenido que optar por pedir a nuestros jugadores apoyo para financiar las participaciones en esta clase de competencias. Pero a pesar de estas adversidades, no hemos dejado de asistir con nuestros mejores represen- tantes y hemos conseguido resultados satisfactorios. Cuando nos ven llegar a lejanas fronteras, nuestros hermanos de otras nacionalidades nos dicen palabras de asombro, reconocimiento y solidaridad, por vernos allí con la frente en alto, compitiendo como siempre. Estas expresiones son gratamente recibidas e imagínense lo que se siente cuando escuchamos nuestro himno nacional en las premiaciones. Todos estos obstáculos que hemos sorteado y todas las alegrías que le ha dado nuestra disciplina al deporte nacional no podrían ser reales, sin el apoyo de toda la familia del golf venezolano: clubes, entrenadores, jugadores juveniles, infan- tiles, de los padres de nuestros golfistas, los amateurs, mid amateurs, profesionales, e instituciones que rigen el deporte en Venezuela. Y vamos por buen camino, pero todavía falta. En los 26 clubes de golf registrados y 22 campos activos del país, le hemos dado espacio a todo el que ha querido sumar en pro del desarrollo del golf venezolano. Es el camino que estamos llamados a transitar –ahora más que nunca– cuando nuestros campos e instituciones se reinventan en una suerte de nuevos “protocolos”, una palabra que utilizamos casi a diario.
