The Philadelphia ’s Office Law Division is pleased to offer an externship opportunity to law students (2L or 3L’s can apply) who will serve in the Division’s Appeals, Federal Litigation, and Post-Conviction Relief Act Units.

Externs will hone their research, analytical, and writing skills as appellate advocates, while gaining extensive, practical experience in criminal law. Under the supervision of a Law Division Assistant District Attorney, selected externs will focus on such issues as the sufficiency and weight of the evidence for various crimes, evidence suppression, and procedural obstacles in state and federal collateral review. Externs will research and analyze criminal law, produce written assignments, and engage in other work that advances the mission of the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office.*

The Law Division Externship is ideal for law students who are committed to, or interested in learning more about, a career in criminal law or a career that will involve extensive legal analysis and writing.
