The mission of the Cayuga Lake Floating Classroom is to engage community members from around Cayuga Lake, and throughout the Finger Lakes Region, in the future of our water resources.
To accomplish this, we provide experiential learning opportunities and promote academic achievement, environmental literacy, and lifelong relationships with the waterways that define our communities.

Cayuga Lake’s top HYDRILLA HEROES, Dave and Joyce Heck of Lansing Volunteers Dave and Joyce Heck developed and regularly serviced thirty-three hydrilla information sites lakewide at marinas, state parks and launches, private launches, waterside restaurants, town and village offices.
The Hecks report that 660 Hydrilla I.D. kits were taken from the dispensers during 2015.
