POSITION: Junior Beef Show Superintendent

COMPANY NAME: State Fair Park The Agriculture Department is seeking a talented candidate with knowledge of the beef industry to fill a Junior Beef Show Superintendent position. Wisconsin State Fair Park is a year-round entertainment venue hosting activities, events, meetings and more throughout the four seasons. Home to the Exposition Center, Tommy G. Thompson Youth Center, the Mile Speedway, Products Pavilion and many other facilities, hundreds of events are held on the fairgrounds each year, most notable the annual Wisconsin State Fair. EMPLOYMENT TYPE: Limited Term Employment Position working approximately 80 hours over the course of the annual Wisconsin State Fair and a few hours per week in the weeks leading up to the Fair

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS: Pay is $12.000 per hour. Compensation for travel and mileage is not provided

POSITION DESCRIPTION: As superintendent, the incumbent will supervise and coordinate the junior beef programs at the Fair. In addition, incumbent serves as a liaison between Wisconsin State Fair, the beef industry, exhibitors, parents and Wisconsin Youth Development Organizations.

Duties: Pre-Fair (June 1 to Fair)  Assist Fair management with entry and exhibitor questions  Develop and submit an arrival, stalling and release plan  Hire a qualified staff to assist with Fair operations. (4-5 employees)  Submit employee schedules to management  Assist with all required employee paperwork  Provide information for specific work orders or special award requests

State Fair Period (11 days beginning in late-July or early-August depending)  Supervise and assist with the ingress and egress of exhibitors (traffic)  Provide positive customer service to exhibitors while at the Fair  Enforce all Fair regulations and policies  Coordinate the efficient operation of breed shows  Assist entry office with updated entry and show information  Proof show results before entry office releases official results  Assist Wisconsin State Fair veterinarians and ethics coordinator as needed  Serve as Wisconsin State Fair liaison to junior beef exhibitors, industry, parents and Wisconsin Youth Development Organizations  Supervise all department employees  Gather exhibitor suggestions for show enhancements  Submit timesheets for all employees Post-Fair (submitted within two weeks)  Review, analyze and submit exhibitor suggestions  Submit a written evaluation of show operations to supervisor  Submit a written request for program improvements and enhancements  Complete a Fair evaluation for State Fair management

Year-Round (October 1 through June 1)  Represent Wisconsin State Fair at applicable industry events  Assist in developing, implementing and proofing rules and regulations  Assist in securing show and/or award sponsorships if applicable  Attend State Fair employee meetings/training as required  Assist State Fair Management with industry knowledge  Communicate with various members of State Fair staff as necessary

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:  Knowledge of the beef industry and similar industry events  Excellent communication skills  Strong organization skills  Ability to work well with employees, exhibitors and volunteers  Ability to make important decisions and handle pressure  Ability to work long hours
