About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to support, promote and deliver strategic and operational management of Sangam World Centre in accordance with the mission, vision, values and business plans of WAGGGS.

The primary purpose of this role is ensuring that the mission and vision of WAGGGS is delivered through programmes and activities undertaken at Sangam World Centre.

This role will be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring & evaluation of a business plan, annual budget and day-to-day finances for the World Centre, ensuring that projects/programmes are achieved and within the budget. WAGGGS seeks a dynamic individual with a passion for people and a desire to work in a diverse, international environment to be the next World Centre Manager.

About You

As a confident manager - you will have overall responsibility for the day-to-day management of the World Centre and the leadership of a team of international staff and volunteers.

You will work to ensure the highest standards of customer service to all visitors and support constant improvements to service delivery. You will need to be an energetic team manager with residential, hotel, hostel, catering or conference sectors experience. You will have excellent communication skills and will enjoy taking on a varied, challenging role.

The ideal candidate will have a great track record of building & maintaining relationships, developing cross-functional working relationships with the team and wider organisation.

Fluency in written and spoken English is essential; however Hindi and Marathi would be desirable

Job Description

Title: World Centre Manager Responsible to: Head of Assets Location Sangam World Centre, Pune India Responsible for People: All Guests, Staff and Volunteers at the World Centre Budget: The budget for the World Centre Key Working World Centre Managers, Head of Teams, Programme Team, Finance Relationships: Team Members, Human Resources Team Friends/Supporters, Members and External Suppliers

Job Purpose:

The World Association of the Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS) operates five international World Centres (UK, India, Switzerland & Mexico) and a “pop up” Centre operating in the Africa Region. The Centres are open all year round for members and families of WAGGGS and non-members, delivering programmes and providing opportunities for global friendships and education programmes.

The primary role of the World Centre Manager is the strategic and operational management of their World Centre by the mission, vision, values and business plans of WAGGGS.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To be responsible in conjunction with the Head of Assets for the strategic and operational management of the World Centre, ensuring the highest standards of customer service are delivered while driving forward continuous improvements in all areas of the World Centre operation.

2. To be responsible for setting and developing the culture within the World Centre in line with the mission and vision of WAGGGS by ensuring that friendships, acceptance of diversity and understanding are a key component of guest, volunteer and staff experience while at the Centre.

3. To be responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of a business plan, annual budget and day to day finances for the World Centre, ensuring that projects/programmes are achieved and within the budget. In conjunction with the Finance Team monitor income and expenditure and ensure that financial processes and controls are followed.

4. Lead, manage and monitor the team via the management structure ensuring that employees are recruited, inducted, trained, supervised and appraised in line with WAGGGS policies and procedure while ensuring service and customer provision is delivered within an efficient, effective and quality framework.

5. To be responsible for maximising income across the World Centre including: • Develop and maintain relationships with funding bodies and identify further opportunities for funding by completing appropriate proposals in conjunction with the Engagement Team • Maintaining relationships with key donors including international and local friends groups • Maximising use of the facilities, building and merchandising.

6. To be responsible for the provision of quality events, programmes and activities in accordance with the World Centre business Plan and the WAGGGS wider mission by ensuring: • That programmes meet the need of the target group and are evaluated and amended as necessary • Relationships with community/local partners are maintained, and new partnerships are developed.

7. Ensure that programmes, projects and services comply with the requirements of funders, commissioners and other statutory regulators as required ensuring that reporting systems and action plans are in place to address any needs ensuring the highest standards are achieved.

8. Undertaking regular reporting on pre-agreed performance indicators and agreed on outcomes in areas including: • Finance management reporting • Evaluation of programmes, conferences, events and activities within the World Centre • Programme development and implementation.

9. To be responsible for the Health & Safety, maintenance and safeguarding across the World Centre by: • Ensuring risk management plans are updated and monitored • Undertaking inspection of the facilities regularly to ensuring strict compliance with health and safety standards • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures are updated and implemented. • Ensure that all times employees, volunteers and customers comply with WAGGGS health & safety policies and practices • Identify short and long-term capital requirements and update a 10-year rolling capital/building programme • Ensure that the maintenance plan is updated and monitor the day to day maintenance across the World Centre.

10. To be responsible for the promotion, marketing and publicity of the World Centre, including making full use of social media, the website and publications in conjunction with the Media Team ensuring compliance with WAGGGS guidelines.

11. Work with World Centre colleagues closely on World Centre related matters, including marketing, guest services, programme and overall international experiences.

12. To act as an ambassador on behalf of WAGGGS, creating opportunities to enhance WAGGGS’s external profile and reputation amongst key audiences and pursue strategic alliances in line with corporate and business plan objectives.

13. To be responsible for and able to evidence own personal development by undertaking relevant training, attending meetings, conferences and events ensuring that you are updated in all matters relevant to the role within your Personal Development Plan agreed with your manager.

Salary:

GBP: £39.500 per annum
