EASTER IS HERE, ALLELUIA, ALLELUIA!

For all of and people of good will, Easter is the most important Holy Day of the year. Jesus told his disciples and through them to all of us, that his very mission that which was why he was sent by his Father, (our Lord God), was to point all of humanity the way to was through Him. This is why Jesus was born, why God sent his only Son.

Jesus has Risen! Jesus rose from the dead and appeared to the disciples to assure them that He had conquered all things, including suffering and death. He made their faith stronger, and their hearts more charitable. Their eyes were even more fixed on the Lord after He ascended to Heaven as they began to proclaim to the Good News to all.

Our challenge is to embrace the Christ in faith. To live out our Baptismal call and to follow the lead of the Apostles and preach that Good News message to all we meet. Yes, Jesus has been raised from the dead and is alive in the world and in our very selves. He will change our lives for the better if we turn to Him and receive His grace. Jesus Christ had conquered death so there is nothing to fear! Do not be afraid for our Lord will always be with us, now and forever.

On behalf of Fr. Joyce, Fr. Tom, Deacon Richard, myself and the entire Parish Staff, may God bless all of you and fill you with Easter Joy!

In the risen Christ,

Deacon Jim

During the first three or four centuries of Sunday, April 11 Christianity, if you asked a Christian to name the 10:00a Mass - Divine Infant Jesus Church (Limit 120 people) feast days of the church, your answer would have been a puzzled stare, for there was only one feast: the Resurrection of the Lord. Every Sunday was a feast celebrating the one great feast. Even though our calendar now has many beautiful and holy feasts, we must continually be called We are Easter people back to the fact that all these other feasts exist and because of the feast of Christ’s Passover from death to life. The psalm today proclaims this message well: “This is the day.” It is not one of many days, but it is the day of all days, the one Alleluia that gives all the others their origin, purpose, meaning, and destiny. Listen carefully to Peter’s speech in Acts with its recollection of the Passion, is our song! to the words of the apostle Paul, and to the account of Mary Magdalene, John, and Peter finding the empty tomb, and you will hear the many wonderful works that God has done for us through Christ. RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL PROMISES

Dear brothers and sisters, through the paschal mystery we have been buried with Christ in , so that we may walk with him in newness of life. And so, now that our Lenten observance is concluded, let us renew the promises of Holy Baptism, by which we once renounced Satan and his works and promised to serve God in the holy . And so, I ask you:

Do you reject Satan? I do.

And all his works? I do.

And all his empty promises? I do.

Do you believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth? I do.

Do you believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was born of the Mary, suffered death and was buried, rose again from the dead, and is seated at the right hand of the Father? I do.

Do you believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of , the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting? I do.

And may almighty God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ who has given us new birth by water and the Holy Spirit, and bestowed on us forgiveness of our sins, keep us by his grace, in Christ Jesus our Lord, for eternal life. Amen.

Text of the Renewal of Baptismal Promises from the New Roman Missal, 3rd Edition.

Three people appear in the Easter Gospel: Mary of Magdala, Peter, and the whom Jesus loved, generally regarded as John. Two were present at the foot of the cross on Good Friday. Mary of Magdala comforted Jesus’ mother as he was executed. In some of his last words, Jesus entrusted his mother into John’s care. Now Mary of Magdala purposefully finds John when she saw that the tomb was empty. Though Mary would have been there too, she does not summon her, perhaps not wishing to upset her any further with this news. But she also ran to one other disciple: Peter. Peter, who abandoned Jesus when he was arrested. Peter, who thrice denied knowing him. Peter, who likely wept in shame each subsequent morning when hearing the cock crow. Perhaps he was relieved this morning to have an emergency to distract him from his guilt. Peter ashamed of his behavior, and John, concerned for his adopted mother, ran as fast as they could to the empty tomb. When they got there, impetuous Peter leapt right in, as reflective John saw and believed. The empty tomb is not the end. Easter is just the beginning. He lives. May Christ rise in us as he did in his closest disciples on that first Easter morn.

How does Christ rise in you this Easter Sunday?
