NFCA WEEKLY HONOR The Cardinal needed a pair of extra-inning walk-off hits from Kaitlyn Lim and Taylor Gindlesperger Week 1- Emily Young (Top Performer) to clinch the series against Oregon State, April 30 - May 1. Lim, who came off the bench in the Week 4- Emily Young (Top Performer) game, got the ball to drop in shallow right field to bat Taylor Gindlesperger across the plate in the Week 9- Aly Kaneshiro (Top Performer) bottom of the ninth. The next day, Gindlesperger was on the opposite side of the walk-off — she Week 11- Alana Vawter (Top Performer) singled to center field to bat Sydnee Huff across the plate in the bottom of the 13th. D1 SOFTBALL WEEKLY HONOR Senior CLASS » Fifth-year seniors Teaghan Cowles and Kristina Inouye were both named Week 9- Aly Kaneshiro (Freshman) candidates for the Senior CLASS Award earlier this week. The award is given to the top student- athlete in the nation who excel on and off the field in their respective sports. PAC-12 WEEKLY HONOR Week 9- Aly Kaneshiro (Freshman) Senior Returners » Stanford will return Nikki Bauer, Teaghan Cowles, Montana Dixon and Kristina Week 11- Alana Vawter (Freshman) Inouye for another season on The Farm. The quartet were granted an additional year of eligibility Week 12- Alana Vawter (Pitcher & Freshman) by the NCAA thanks to the 2020 season being canceled in mid-March. The last class to play under multiple head coaches, the four have led a renaissance of the program – Stanford’s winning percentage has increased from .373 in 2017 to .846 last season. ALL PAC-12 HONORS First Team- Alana Vawter Second Team- Taylor Gindlesperger Year Four » The 2021 season will mark the fourth season under the leadership of head coach Third Team- Emily Young & Teaghan Jessica Allister. The former Stanford great (2001-04) and assistant coach owns a record 104-68 at Cowles Stanford and led the program to a NCAA tournament appearance in 2019. The 2019 Pac-12 Coach Freshmen Team- Alana Vawter of the Year, Allister is nearing her 400th career victory as a head coach this season, as she enters the Defensive Team- Montana Dixon year 398-180 in 11 seasons as a head coach.

2020 was a Year » Coming off its first postseason appearance since 2013, Stanford hit the ground running in 2020. The Cardinal finished the season with a 22-4 record leading into the first Pac-12 series – the highest nonconference winning percentage since the 2012 season. Stanford opened that campaign with 23 wins over the first 26 games. In 2020, Stanford won 17 of its last 19 games, including a nine-game win streak from Feb. 28 – March 7.

Despite having five freshman or sophomores be regular position starters, and two freshman record the most innings in the circle, the Cardinal tapped into the clutch gene last year – they won 12 games in the final at-bat, including nine walk-off wins.

Preseason Poll » In a vote among the league's coaches, Stanford was predicted to finish fifth in the Pac-12 conference. The Cardinal garnered 26 points in the preseason poll, and trail Oregon (37) and Arizona State (42). Defending Women’s College World Series champions UCLA was predicted to win the conference, picking up seven first-place votes.
