Cork. Ageing highway structures present a challenge throughout the developed world. The introduction of bridge management systems (BMS) allows bridge owners to assess the condition of their bridge stock and formulate bridge rehabilitation strategies under the constraints of limited budgets and resources. This research presents a decision-support system for bridge owners in the selection of the best strategy for bridge rehabilitation on a highway network. The basis of the research is an available dataset of 1,367 bridge inspection records for County Cork that has been prepared to the Eirspan BMS inspection standard and which includes bridge structure condition ratings and rehabilitation costs.

  • The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers
THE LIST of CHURCH OF IRELAND PARISH REGISTERS A Colour-coded Resource Accounting For What Survives; Where It Is; & With Additional Information of Copies, Transcripts and Online Indexes SEPTEMBER 2021 The List of Parish Registers The List of Church of Ireland Parish Registers was originally compiled in-house for the Public Record Office of Ireland (PROI), now the National Archives of Ireland (NAI), by Miss Margaret Griffith (1911-2001) Deputy Keeper of the PROI during the 1950s. Griffith’s original list (which was titled the Table of Parochial Records and Copies) was based on inventories returned by the parochial officers about the year 1875/6, and thereafter corrected in the light of subsequent events - most particularly the tragic destruction of the PROI in 1922 when over 500 collections were destroyed. A table showing the position before 1922 had been published in July 1891 as an appendix to the 23rd Report of the Deputy Keeper of the Public Records Office of Ireland. In the light of the 1922 fire, the list changed dramatically – the large numbers of collections underlined indicated that they had been destroyed by fire in 1922. The List has been updated regularly since 1984, when PROI agreed that the RCB Library should be the place of deposit for Church of Ireland registers. Under the tenure of Dr Raymond Refaussé, the Church’s first professional archivist, the work of gathering in registers and other local records from local custody was carried out in earnest and today the RCB Library’s parish collections number 1,114. The Library is also responsible for the care of registers that remain in local custody, although until they are transferred it is difficult to ascertain exactly what dates are covered.

  • Old St. John Cemetery ~ Middletown, Connecticut Headstones Inscribed with the Place of Origin in Ireland
Old St. John Cemetery ~ Middletown, Connecticut Headstones Inscribed with the Place of Origin in Ireland St. John Church was built in 1844 for the growing Irish Catholic population. By 1850 the congregation had outgrown the small house of worship. Efforts to raise funds for a new church included an offer of burial plots to parishioners who donated $20.00 towards the building fund. All the plots were quickly taken and the cemetery was laid out on the north side of the church. In 1934, a list of headstone inscriptions for Middletown was copied under the auspices of F.E.R.A. and the W.P.A., sponsored by the Connecticut State Library, and compiled under the supervision of Charles R. Hale. The Headstone Inscriptions: Town of Middletown, Connecticut includes the complete transcriptions of the headstones in Old St. John Cemetery and are available on microfilm and hardcopy in the library’s local history collection (MIDDRM 974.66 HAL). The following list serves as a name index to the headstones in Old St. John Cemetery that were inscribed with places of origin in Ireland.
