What to Audit WHAT TO AUDIT By L. Ron Hubbard DIANETICS AND SCIENTOLOGY SCIENTOLOGY: WHAT T 0 AU D I T L. Ron Hubbard A LIST AND DESCRIPTION OF THE PRINCIPLE INCIDENTS TO BE FOUND IN A HUMAN BEING. PUBLISHED BY SCIENTIFIC PRESS,INC. 1405 North Central Av. Phoenix, Arizona, USA OOPYRIGHT, 1952 By L. Ron Hubbard ALL RIGHTS RESERVED MANUFACTURED IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA - (THIS EDITION IS AN EXACT FAC SIMILE OF THE ORIGINAL PIAlro SCRIPT TYPED BY L. RON HUBBARD) THIS WORK IS DEDICAt'ED ro lIAR! SUE HUBBARD WHO HELPED PREFACE THIS IS TECHNIQUE 88. TECHNIQUE 88 is the process of locating the thetan, the "I" of the individual and the auditing of the thetan. TECHNIQUE 88 depends upon a knowledge of TECHNIQUE 80 which is a mechanical process applicable to any thought or thought mechanism. Tapes on TECHNIQUE 80 are in the hands of your local associate; the data is being compiled and published as fast as possible. The tapes are the only form now available unless this book contains a slip which says we have HOW TO AUDIT ready to deliver to you. TECHNIQUE 88 is an incredible advance over past understanding and obtains incredibly fast results. This does not mean that it is at first glance credible. You ~ill disvover that all of it is true as soon as you give it a try. TECHNIQUE 88 is an E-meter technique. You can get an E-meter from this office or from Volney Mathison. You can try 88 without an E-meter for present life material. An E-meter is essential for a complete theta clearing. ARCHIMEDES, when he discover how to measure the specific gravity of metaJ..s may have run about shouting "EUREKA!" I am not going to shout "Eureka", I am. simply going to tell you to get busy now with this tedhnique and produce its minimum, a MEST clear. We need them. We can use a couple thousand by Fall. This one really has found it. Sp all I am going to say is YC'u've got it now! Let's get this show on the road. That isn't Greek. It's a call to action. FOREWORD This is a cold-blooded and factual account of your last sixty trillion years. The test of any knowledge is its usefulness. Does it make one happier or more able? By it and with it, can he better achieve his goaJ.s? This is useful knowledge. With it the blind. again see, the lame walk, the ill recover, the insane become sane and the sane become saner. By its use the thousand abilities Man has sought to recover become his once more. Like all useful knowledge it was hardly won. I began search into the back track of Mankind some years ago. There was no actual knowledge of it in existence. There were numberless superstitions, countless guesses, as many theories in favor of one thing as in favor of another. People believed, some of them, that Man had lived before .. They had no proof. Others believed that Man was born innocent and died and went to a place called Helle Most believed that when you had lived once, that was all, fellow. Such a number of conflicting theories must have truth in t.hem. It became my business to discover, against considerable odds, that truth .. In the first place there was something wrong with Man" An animal such as a cat, even a reptile, a lizard, had habit patterns which carried him through his early days. Not Man. Why not? As usual a lot of vagueness answered this. The very schools of "thought" that said Man was just another animal bogged utterly on why it was that babies, the young of this very intelligent animal, are much more stupid than kittens. That was only one thing wrong with Man, that wasn't explained. The further one investigated, the more one came to understand that here, in this creature homo sapiens, were entirely too many unknowns. People who suddenly, out of no observable training, begin to speak foreign tongues, men who "seem to remember having been here before H, strange yearnings in people for various parts of the country or tre world or the stars of which they have no actual knowledge, -2- such things are routine puzzles. And there was a much ]lore important thing at work than mere curiosity. Now and then, in ~ auditing, I would discover a case which would be extremely reluctant to recover and then would recover only partially so long as I used data from the current lifetime of the preclear; but as soon as I used the whole span of the time track - about sixty trillion years - I could obtain immediate respon<.le. One must be very' 1apartial, .'fen brutal, in investigation.. The last series of cases I audited, tweDt:r in DUmber, chose. at rudOlll. frOIl various life strata. and suffering from mental and physical ills which were extremely varied, were audited to demonstrate finally to myself one thing only - Can a.Jl auQitor obtain a swift recovery by auditing the current lifetime onl7? I used the most modern of techniques - 1952 - &ad did a standard auditing address to the current lifetime of each one. I obtained mediocre re.ults, partial recoveries, slight betterment in attitude. Then I audited each case addressing only past track, prior to this lifetime: the results were swift and. spectacular. Thus I validated, for myself, the reality that in awtiting the whole track, ene can g.tain excellent results, that in auditing the current lif'et~, _ can ••tai. sIn and. mediocre results. From this series cue thiB ooncluaionz !HE AUDITOR WHO INSISTS ON AUDITING THE CURRENT LIFETIME ONLY WHEN HE HAS THE 1'flIOLE TRACK TECHlIlQIJE AVAILA!LE IS WASTING TIME AND EFFORT .All) IS, IN FACT, SWINDLING HIS PllECLEAR. I announced "whole track" techniques to a large m:Il\lter of auditors. I found the better auditors quite willing to use them and these iaaediately began to obtain "miracle level" results. A very few held back, were 'Very cautious, would not employ the whole track, cl.UJII to this lifetime, ill'Y~iaated the E-meter, invalidated what tRay erroneously called .past liTe'", were scathingly critical of my eIlployinr; such data. So I investigated the audi tori. Several of these were given sessioDa by me. I found several noteworthy similarities about them: they were so low in tone it was almost impossible to get ~5- them to register on an old style Mathison, their cases were utterly bogged, they generally made a practice of refusing any auditing, their general record with preclears was very poor, their own lives were running badly, they not only fought "past lives" as they called "whole track" but they fought any technique evolved since the summer of 1950 or used later techniques poorly, they would not run any overt acts even in this lifetime, they needed, so far as their cases were concerned, the most careful auditing. I found two people, not auditors, who objected violently to"past lives" and who were "wide-open" cases. Both were in the inaccessible bani, both had unsavory social records, both protested being audited in any incident of Bll\V kim. I concluded therefore that the relatively sane are capable of accepting evidence and the insane are not 0 Occasionally people have told me that I should not release the data con tained in this volume because there would be a repercussion throughout the country which would ruin Dianetics forever. Oddly enough, lIve been unable to discover this repercussion. I have found people alert and friendly toward this data.. "Whole track" is evidently much more acceptable than the idea of a prenatal. Ani, witness a recent READER'S DIGEST, even the medical profession is acceptingprenatals. Further, it is very hard to argue with a miracle. Today, Eleanor has arthritis. She is audited "whole track" with 1952 techniques. Tonight she doesn I t have arthritis. Miracles, using "whole track" are plentiful. By using this data an auditor can obtain a MEST clear rather easily. But the best argument which can be advanced for "whole track" is that it is factual. By using this knowledge more is obtained than auditing results. A preclear suddenly recovers the ability, carefully learned eighty years ago, to playa piano; an electronics engineer, doing poorly before, suddenly wraps up formulae that would puzzle Einstein and which mB¥ get Man off Earth; and a thousand details in a hundred sciences become clear. The search of this track began some years ago and was conducted sporadically -4- on many preclears. Various instruments such as the electro-encephalograph and the police lie detector were used to further this search but these were inadequate and limited for my purposes. Finally Volney Mathison applied his electronic genius to the problem and invented the Electropsychometer. This instrument had a range and ability greatly in excess of anything before known; it compares to itself only in the field of phfsioelectrical mensuration and to existing devices as the electronic microscope compares to looking through a quartz stone. As soon as this inetrument was turDed loose on the problem, the problem ceased to exist. By adding up and checking probabilities on scores of persons, the character, extent and content of the whole track was mapped. Once the E-metergave reliable data, the main problem became the estimation of intentions, of sources, of the reasons behind the reasons. Most of this work has been done. It comments poorly on Manis dullness that this project was impeded and slowed greatly by lack or fuJlds and by very active efforts on the part of some to acquire and own the copyrights of Dianetics _ may the ill of the world forgive theme Thus the map is not as complete in this issue as it might be 0 This work is honest research, done with considerable care.

  • FLATTENING a PROCESS a Lecture Given on 19 March 1964
FLATTENING A PROCESS A lecture given on 19 March 1964 How are you today? Good. Thank you. What’s the date? Audience: 19th of March. 19 March. 19 March, 14. All right with you if I begin this lecture now? What would you like to know about today? Anything you want to know? Well, in view of the fact that you have no preference, I’ll talk to you about auditing. And this is some of the basic know-hows of auditing. Somewhere along the line, many an auditor lays aside some of his basic information on the subject of auditing. He hides it under his E-Meter, or something of the sort, and starts doing something silly and then wonders all of a sudden why he’s having trouble. And it’s very interesting how silly some of these things can be. Now, there was a subject called flattening a process. Now, this has been mostly forgotten. It’s even part of the Auditor’s Code, but it gets forgotten. It gets forgotten. And what you need to know about this—what you need to know about this—is that there are two aspects to ending a process. There are two aspects to this thing, and they are both concerned with what are you doing with the process? That’s the main question. What are you doing with the process? Well, what you are doing with it tells you how to end it and how you can end it. And these two things are: you’re trying to fix up the PC so he can be audited—that’s number one—and number two, you are trying to audit the PC.

SHOULD GERMANY STOP WORRYING AND LOVE THE OCTOPUS? FREEDOM OF RELIGION AND THE CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY IN GERMANY AND THE UNITED STATES Religion hides many mischiefs from suspicion.' I. INTRODUCTION Recently the City of Los Angeles dedicated one of its streets to the founder of the Church of Scientology, renaming it "L. Ron Hubbard Way." 2 Several months prior to the ceremony, the Superior Administrative Court of Miinster, Germany held that Federal Minister of Labor Norbert Bluim was legally permitted to continue to refer to Scientology as a "giant octopus" and a "contemptuous cartel of oppression." 3 These incidents indicate the disparity between the way that the Church of Scientology is treated in the United States and the treatment it receives in Germany.4 Notably, while Scientology has been recognized as a religion in the United States, 5 in Germany it has struggled for acceptance and, by its own account, equality under the law. 6 The issue of Germany's treatment of the Church of Scientology has reached the upper echelons of the United States 1. From 1973 to 1975 I lived aboard the Flagship Apollo ("Flag"), the home of L. Ron Hubbard, the founder of Dianetics and Scientology. On Flag, I trained to be an auditor (a Scientology counselor). My life on Flag was a continual roller- coaster of ups and downs. One day I would receive a personal commendation from Hubbard and be held up as an example of what a Flag auditor should be and then, just months later, Hubbard would take away all my certificates and send me to the RPF (Scientology's prison camp) for an auditing error I did not even commit. On Flag as auditors, we were under continuous pressure to be perfect, the standard of perfection being the whim of L. Ron Hubbard. Many people, no doubt, have read horror stories about what occurred on Flag and I can personally attest to the fact that they are true.

  • Introductory Processes & ASSISTS
Introductory Processes & ASSISTS By L. RON HUBBARD INTRODUCTORY PROCESSES AND ASSISTS 2 INTRODUCTION There are a vast number of processes that L. Ron Hubbard has developed that fall under the heading of Introductory and Demonstration processes. Many of these processes are in early publications of Dianetics and Scientology and on taped lectures. Until all of these processes can be compiled into a book, the processes contained in this pack have been compiled so that they are readily available for use. Auditors and Case Supervisors use Introductory processes on beginning pcs as a case entrance and to handle many of the difficulties that people encounter in their daily lives. Often such auditing has been called “Life Repair” as it does that; it additionally prepares the pc’s case for the more major Grade Chart actions. A published list of these Introductory processes and their references is a boon to auditors and Case Supervisors as it makes their work more accurate and effective, while saving time. Field Auditors. Field Staff Members and Scientologists in general are often faced with how to give a new person a reality on auditing. There are many Demonstration processes which they can use which can be run on somebody who has had no previous auditing and which can give an immediate result. This is of great use in dissemination and for helping one’s friends and acquaintances. Parents often are faced with situations with their children that could be handled with processes and there are processes which will raise a child’s general ability. Even animals can be processed so one can raise the tone level of pets.

The word Scientology is composed from the Latin “scio“, to know in the fullest sense of the word, and the Greek “logos“ for study. Scientology is a philosophy which was developed by L. Ron Hubbard. It has its roots in Buddhist and other eastern tenets and unites these with the claim to workability and applicability in the western world. Scientology is a theory of cognition which has as its goal to offer ways and means to man for finding the way back to himself. We who deal and work with Scientology don’t give ready solutions, because every being is an individual. Instead, we just offer tools which make it possible to purify oneself and find out what is true for oneself or not. This way is based on old eastern tenets like “Everything that is is the result of what we have thought. All that we are is based on our thoughts and was built on top of our thoughts.“ To work with Scientology is a step-by-step process, and everybody has to work out his road himself, because one can only himself recognize himself.
