LEMPAS 100912035 SASTRA INGGRIS UNIVERSITAS SAM RATULANGI FAKULTAS ILMU BUDAYA MANADO 2016 ABSTRACT This study is an attempt to find out the forms and analyze the meaning of prepositions in the Album Stand Up and Scream by Asking Alexandria. The data were analyzed based on the theories of Quirk Randolph (1985) and Curme (1986). The method used in this research was descriptive method. The data of prepositions were taken from the lyrics in the Album Stand Up and Scream by Asking Alexandria. The result of this study shows that there are 5 forms of prepositions found in the 13 songs in the album based on the theory of Quirk (1985) simple preposition, compound preposition, complex preposition, marginal preposition, inflectional preposition. Based on the theory of Curme (1986), there are 13 meanings of preposition found in the Album Stand Up and Scream by Asking Alexandria. The meaning of preposition refer to place, time, purpose or target, source or origin, cause or reason, way, tool, inclusion, nature, ownership or possession, amount, size, conquest. From a very young age until the present time, Warren plays many different instruments including the vibraphone/marimba,drumset/percussion,and the piano/keyboards. As a youth, Warren attended the Peabody Preparatory of The John Hopkins Institute in Baltimore, MD where he studied with former Baltimore Symphony Member Leo LePage. While at Peabody, Warren played many popular styles of music which included classical, jazz, and ragtime. Warren studied with Caribbean Jazz Project vibist Dave Samuels. Governors State University Also at Berklee, Warren had the chance to play and record with many of the world's best musicians, including Wynton Marsalis and the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Nicholas Payton, Mulgrew Miller, Lewis Nash, Christian McBride, Terri-LyneCarrington, Bobby Watson, Roy Hanynes, Danilo Perez, and many others. He began to experiment with many different music styles outside of jazz and classical, such as hip-hop, R&B, drum-n-bass, funk, rock, gospel, world music, Latin and many others. During his time at Berklee, Warren had the opportunity to play at the legendary jazz club Wally's Cafe to help broaden his skills. After years of training and sitting in with musidans, Warren landed 2010 Cabaret Series Presents the weekend gig at Wally's for the next three years, playing drums and on occasion the vibraphone. Warren co-led a quintet with trumpeter Jason Palmer at Wally's.
