MEDIA RELEASE 11th October 2013 CHINA NAVIGATION ORDERS 4 MORE ECO HANDYSIZE BULKCARRIERS On 30th September, following the successful seatrial of the first 39,000dwt B.Delta37, MV Wuchang, The China Navigation Company Pte Ltd (“CNCo”) confirmed an order for four additional 39,000dwt B.Delta37 handysize bulkcarriers to be built at Chengxi Shipyard in China. This latest order brings the total number of Deltamarin designed vessels ordered by CNCo to sixteen. MV Wuchang will deliver from Chengxi at the end of October. The order follows the completion of the seatrial of MV Wuchang, on 29th September, which was the first seatrial for Deltamarin’s innovative B.Delta37 eco handysize design. The excellent sea going performance of the vessel is testament to the successful collaboration between Deltamarin, Chengxi Shipyard, and CNCo. The seatrial validated the design’s specification and confirms the B.Delta37 as the most energy efficient handysize bulkcarrier available. Furthermore, the performance of the vessel is testament to the quality of Chengxi Shipyards’s newbuilding capabilities, and underlines its growing reputation as the leading Chinese yard for handysize and ultramax newbuildings. This order represents another significant commitment by the Company to Deltamarin’s energy efficient B.Delta37 design which offers lower fuel consumption, additional cargo deadweight and greater cargo cubic capacity in comparison to existing designs. The vessels will be deployed in CNCo’s drybulk division, Swire Bulk, and will operate on a worldwide basis. The vessels feature five double skin cargo holds and are designed to carry bulk cargoes, grain, coal, concentrates, logs, heavy general cargo, steel coils, steel slabs and a wide variety of heavy project cargoes. Four electric deck cranes are mounted on the centerline, each rated at 36 tons at maximum outreach of 26m.
