OVERVIEW

James Grippando is an American novelist and practicing attorney, currently serving as Counsel at Boies Schiller Flexner LLP. Specializing in intellectual property and competition law, James has represented a wide range of clients, from Tony-Award winning Broadway producers to chicken farmers. He has lectured at various conferences for the American Bar Association and the American Intellectual Property Law Association and has published Op-Ed pieces on timely legal issues in major periodicals. As both lawyer and writer, he has been featured in publications ranging from to People magazine, and provided legal insights on national TV programs, such as MSNBC’s “Morning Joe.”

Mr. Grippando is also bestselling author of 25 novels published by HarperCollins, which are enjoyed worldwide in 28 languages. His signature character, Miami criminal defense lawyer Jack Swyteck, is one of the most enduring characters in the legal thriller genre, and his twelfth Swyteck novel, Gone Again, was a finalist for the 2017 Harper Lee Prize for legal fiction. Leapholes, his novel for younger readers, was published by the American Bar Association and is used by middle schools across the country to teach children about law and lawyers. His numerous scholarly articles have appeared in law reviews at the nation’s top law schools and are frequently cited with approval by state and federal courts. James earned his undergraduate and law degree at the University of Florida.
