UNH Football Fans Invited To Reception Prior To Saturday Playoff Game At UMASS

DURHAM, N.H. – Fans of the University of are invited to a reception prior to the UNH football team’s NCAA playoff game against the University of Massachusetts Minutemen Saturday, Dec. 2, 2006, in Warren McGuirk Stadium in Amherst, Mass.

The reception will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at tents set up on the northeast side of the stadium, behind the visiting team's bleachers in Minute Man Park. The game starts at 2:30 p.m.

The ninth-ranked Wildcat football team faces the third-ranked Minutemen in the second round of the NCAA quarterfinals following UNH’s victory over Hampton University Nov. 25. The Wildcats are the only team in the Atlantic 10 Football Conference to advance to the quarterfinals for three straight years. The Wildcats are led by junior quarterback Ricky Santos, who tied a career mark with five touchdown passes and 315 passing yards in the game against Hampton. The winner of the UNH vs. UMass game will move on to play in the semifinals, playing the winner of the Southern Illinois vs. Montana contest.

Tickets for the Dec. 2 game are available online at http://www.unhwildcats.com and at the Box Office on the UNH campus in Durham. Reserved seats are $15 each; UNH students may purchase tickets for $5 with a valid student ID.

UNH fans are encouraged to wear to the stadium to support the team. Stadium doors open at 12:30 p.m. Alcohol is not allowed in the reception area and there is no parking directly behind the bleachers; there is, however, plenty of parking around the stadium.

Directions to Warren McGuirk Alumni Stadium:

From the North: Take Route 91 South to Exit 25. At the end of the ramp turn left and follow the road to the intersection. Turn right onto Routes 5 & 10 South. Go 1 mile, then left onto 116 South, then eight miles to UMass exit. Turn left at the end of the ramp onto Massachusetts Avenue. Take a right at the first set of lights (usually blinking yellow) and proceed approximately one-quarter mile. The stadium entrance will be on your right.

From the South: Take Route 91 North to Exit 19 (Northampton/Amherst). Turn Right onto Route 9 and go approximately five miles, just past the Amherst-Hadley town line. Take a left at the lights (just after the Stop and Shop on the left-hand side) onto University Drive. Go through one set of lights and the entrance to the stadium will be on your left.

From the East: Take the Mass Pike (Route 90) West to Exit 4 (West Springfield) onto Route 91

North to Exit 19 (Northampton/Amherst). Turn right onto Route 9 and go approximately five miles, just past the Amherst-Hadley town line. Take a left at the lights (just after the Stop and Shop on the left-hand side) onto University Drive. Go through one set of lights and the entrance to the stadium will be on your left.
