LAMPETER TOWN COUNCIL

MEETING OF THE SUB-COMMITTEE TO DISCUSS ARRANGEMENTS, WITHIN LAMPETER, APPERTAINING TO THE CENTENARY COMMEMORATION OF THE START OF WWI, ON THE 10TH AUGUST 2014.

THIS WAS HELD AT ON TUESDAY 5TH AUGUST 2014 (2-2.40pm)

1. PRESENT

2. REPRESENTING LAMPETER TOWN COUNCIL

Mayor Cllr Elsie Dafis;

Cllr David Smith;

Cllr Selwyn Walters;

Cllr Dorothy Williams; &

Eleri Thomas – Clerk of Lampeter Town Council.

APLOGIES for absence were received from Cllr John Davies.

Members were sorry to hear that Canon Brendan O’Malley had been unwell recently and wished him a rapid recovery.

3. MATTERS ARISING

3.1 Road works at Bryn Road: 10th August 2014: The Mayor Cllr Elsie Dafis had contacted County Council. The work will now start at 12 Noon.

3.2 BAND TO LEAD THE PROCESSION

It was reported that Cadets Band will lead the Procession.

3.3 MARSHAL

Cllr Dave Smith will assume the role of Marshal during the Event.

3.4 MANNING THE ROADS

The services of Lampeter Round Table will be enlisted to “man” the roads during the Procession (End of Bryn Road; Harford Square & adjacent to the Police Station)

3.5 TAXI SERVICE

A Taxi Service will be provided for some people with mobility problems.

3.6 PROCESSION 10TH AUGUST 2014

Cllr Dave Smith had compiled the Procession Order viz

Town Council & Goronwy

Royal British Legion Branches (Men & Women’s Sections)

Welsh Guards & other Military Representatives

Help 4 Heroes

Trinity St David’s

Army Cadets

Cubs, Scouts, Brownies & Guides

Lampeter Fire Station

Lampeter Ex Firemen

All other organisations The Standard Bearers will sit in the Chancel of the Church and the Town Council will occupy the front pews of the Church. 3.7 BUGLER

Miss Lois Price will assume the role of bugler.

3.8 SERVICE AT THE CHURCH

The Service is in order and will be conducted by Canon Brendan O’Malley.

3.9 CHURCH COLLECTION

A Collection will be made during the Service. It was resolved to contact the Rural Dean to discuss possible options in relation to donating a part of the Collection to a certain Charity for example The Royal British Legion.

3.10 ALTAR FLOWERS

It was RESOLVED to place flowers on the altar. Cllr Dorothy Williams to assume responsibility for this matter. The Town Council will pay for the flowers.

3.11 REFRESHMENTS

It was RESOLVED to offer refreshments after the Church Service, at the Church Hall. Cllr Dorothy Williams to assume responsibility for the catering arrangements on behalf of the Town Council. Church members may help if they wish.
