Congressional Leadership Reception – To be re-scheduled due to weather

The Congressional Award Foundation will host this special reception with members of the House and Senate to thank supporters, sponsors and partners of this special program.

Youth & Technology Dinner – March 16th

The Congressional Award Foundation hosts a dinner with members of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, and House Energy and Commerce Committee to advocate the importance of civic engagement among young people and the critical role technology plays to bring together youth of all backgrounds to serve a common purpose.

In 2016, we will be honoring two individuals who have served as the United States Secretary of Transportation, Secretary William Coleman, Jr. and Secretary Norm Mineta.

Chiefs of Staff Charity Poker Tournament – May 23rd

The Congressional Award Charity Poker Tournament is an annual event to benefit Congress’ only award for youth. The tournament brings together poker enthusiasts across the spectrum including Members of Congress, Chiefs of Staff, poker pros and friends of the Award for an evening of bluffs and blinds, all in the name of charity.

The event also features a Silent Auction and reception for those who may not be inclined to show off their poker skills but still want to take part in the charitable event. In 2015, we were joined by Members of Congress and Chiefs of Staff – including Poker Pros Dennis Phillips and Greg “FossilMan” Raymer!

Youth Wellness Dinner – June 16th

The Congressional Award Foundation hosts an annual dinner with members of the Senate HELP and House Energy and Commerce Committees in Washington, DC. Formerly hosted by the late Senator Ted Kennedy, this annual event provides an opportunity for Republicans and Democrats alike t\o come together in celebration of their only charitable foundation. Specifically, this dinner advocates the importance of civic engagement and physical health and fitness for youth – two of the main components of the Congressional Award program.

Childhood obesity is an issue that continues to be an ongoing focus on Capitol Hill, and we believe the Congressional Award program encourages activities that can prevent this epidemic from spreading to future generations of young people. The 2015 dinner honored Congressman John Dingell, Mr. Steve Pemberton, and Ms. Mary Rodgers.

Congressional Award Gold Medal Ceremony – June 16th

Truly the highlight of our year, each June the Congressional Award celebrates its Gold Medalists – the highest of the six levels of the Award - through the annual Gold Medal Ceremony. Held on Capitol Hill, Members of Congress join together to honor youth from across the country to recognize their accomplishments and outstanding contributions to our great nation.

Congressional Award Golf Classic – September 12th

This annual event brings together current and former Members of Congress, as well as prominent guests such as retired NBA star Patrick Ewing and NFL legend Emmitt Smith, as well as Alonzo Mourning, Dikembe Mutombo, Roger Clemens, Chris Doleman and others, to celebrate the success of this Congressional program for youth. We are delighted to tee-off at the beautiful TPC Potomac Golf Course at Avenel Farm, in Potomac, Maryland. Recently redesigned by golf’s most elite architects, the course is among those of the PGA Tour’s acclaimed TPC Network of clubs. Last year’s attendees included Members of Congress and Chiefs of Staff from 35 offices.

New Jersey State Dinner – TBA

The Congressional Award Foundation hosts State Dinners and Receptions on a rotating basis to raise awareness of program activities in that particular state. These events are all held in Washington, DC. Members of Congress join us as our special guests to help thank the contributors from these states and to forge new state partnerships that will enhance the program.

Special awards are often presented to the individuals from these states who have displayed outstanding commitment to improving the lives of our nation’s young people. Recognition is also given to partnering organizations for providing critical support in the Congressional Award Foundation’s efforts to make the Congressional Award a national opportunity.

The most recent Congressional Award State Dinners included Idaho, honoring former Governor Dirk Kempthorne; Arkansas, honoring former Senator David Pryor, Mississippi, honoring Mississippi State University President Dr. Mark Keenum, a Western States Dinner honoring former Senator Robert Bennett of Utah and former Senator Alan Simpson; and the 2014 Illinois State Congressional Delegation honoring former Secretary Ray LaHood. In 2015, the Texas State Dinner honored former Senator Phil Gramm and Ambassador Ron Kirk.
