• Earthnet/ESA funded • GMES Space Component funded
• For Cat-1 science & pre-opera ons • For GMES opera onal use and applica on development
• Ground segment opera ons sharing • Data procurement with adapta on instead of data procurement of GCM interfaces within a Coordinated Data access System
• Relaxed requirements towards • service performance (e.g. meliness) Demanding requirements towards service performance
…thus different demands and access principles to the same pool of non-ESA missions
We care for a safer world Objec ve Data Warehouse GMES Contribu ng Missions (1st Jun 2011- 31st May 2014)
• Con nue smoothly the data supply started under GSC-DA 2008-2010 grant with no interrup on, 2011-2014 • Supply all datasets described in DWH (and DAP-R) to – The maximum perimeter of users (beyond previously mainly FP7 projects) – With the best possible usage condi ons of the data • Improve technical performance, reliability and measurability
We care for a safer world User types
New: extension of licence perimeter with 5 levels of user types
1. Par cipants to a project financed under FP7* 2. Ins tu ons and bodies of the EU 3. Public authority 4. Interna onal Organisa ons and NGOs 5. Public
* The 1st period under the grant was by default constraint to this category, with few excep ons (e.g. EEA/NPIs for IMAGE2009)
We care for a safer world Use types
– DISCOVERY Service: search for spa al datasets and services on the basis of the content of the corresponding metadata and to display the content of the metadata. – NEW OPTION= VIEW Service: The VIEW service shall make possible, as a minimum, to display, navigate, zoom in/out, pan, or overlay viewable spa al data sets and to display legend informa on and any relevant content of metadata – DOWNLOAD Service: access to full products as supplied by GCMs, to process to higher levels

We care for a safer world GSC-DA Portal & Data Access Por olio
DAP contains • Background information on GSC-DA • Operational information, e.g. 24/7 services • Details per GCMs • All CORE datasets with baseline licences (no options) • All ADDITIONAL datasets with initial quota (2011)

We care for a safer world Besides this, the GCMs of course have more capabili es and also serve other customers, just 2 examples from DMCii & European Space Imaging (EUSI):
We care for a safer world Current DMC Constellation
• Combined revisit of 1-2 days globally
• Total capacity up to 40 Million km2 per day
• Constellation concept designed for regular monitoring of very large areas
Amsterdam, UK-DMC2 Example: USA Multitemporal Coverage 2011
• For USDA Crop Monitoring • Satellites used: Deimos-1 and UK-DMC2 • Complete coverage of lower 48 States every 15-days • 12 coverages May–October 2011 • Average 91% cloud-free per coverage • 150 Million km2 of cloud-free imagery delivered • USDA reported improved crop classification results
