A special thanks goes out to our Sponsors this year, Gun Freedom Radio, AZFirearms and P.O.G. MARCH 2019 RidersUSA’s Monthly Newsletter PAGE 2 “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly” by Vince Ansel “HERDING RINO’S” Most of you who are reading this know what “herding cats” is all about. In case you don’t, I’ll tell you. “Herding Cats” is a cliché used in the futile exercise of attempting to have a group of people act as a team in accomplishing a goal. Human nature as it is, oftentimes prohibits cooperation among people in order to achieve that goal. With that said, we have a huge problem in the State of Arizona concerning elected officials who promise us one thing in order to get elected and then delivering something totally different once in office. Yes people, I’m talking about those dastardly “RINO’S” (Republicans In Name Only)! To me, a clearly defined enemy is much easier to deal with and then defeat than a politician professing to be “on your side” and then under the cover of darkness, slip a well-honed blade deep into your back. Examples are rife with such deceivers across the nation, but I’ll focus upon some who are well recognized locally. Just yesterday, I received an automated political message from Republican AZ State Senator Paul Boyer praising the virtues of Phoenix Mayoral Candidate Daniel Valenzuela and encouraging fellow Republicans to vote for him in an upcoming run-off election. Boyer called Valenzuela “his friend” in this message. First of all Valenzuela is a hard core leftist Democrat with an avowed “Open Borders” agenda. As a City Councilman, Valenzuela has a long history of voting for amnesty and special benefits for Illegal Aliens residing in our communities. Why would a Republican support such an individual who is an anathema to Republican and Conservative principles? Recently, a bill crafted and introduced by Republican AZ State Senator Heather Carter (SB1217) passed muster in the AZ Senate with support from fellow RINO’S. SB1217 is legislation that if passed into law will grant special discounted rates to Illegal Aliens wishing to attend Arizona public colleges and universities. American citizens living out of state and wanting to attend an AZ college will continue to pay the much higher “out of State” tuitions, effectively subsidizing the Illegal Alien freeloaders! Even more insidious is that this Bill is designed to circumvent an Amendment to the AZ State Constitution (Prop 300) which prohibits the use of public monies in giving special treatment to Illegal Aliens. Fellow RINO’S who voted along with Sen. Heather Carter (LD15) to navigate the passage of this Bill through the State Senate are: Sen. Kate Brophy McGee (LD28), Sen. Frank Pratt (LD8) and (once again) Sen. Paul Boyer (LD20). The support of this legislation should be the final unveiling of these phony Republicans and who they truly represent. Principled Republican candidates need to “primary” these Democrats masquerading as Republicans in the next election. No real Republican would ever vote to favor the interests of Illegal Aliens over American citizens. These AZ State Senators are frauds and need to feel the wrath of Arizona voters! They are a “clear and present danger” to the dignity, traditions and values that Arizonans hold so dearly! Vote these people out of office! RidersUSA is Going to the Border! BORDER WALL APPRECIATION RIDE APRIL 13, 2019 RidersUSA will be riding our bikes down to the Yuma Sector area to listen to a presentation by the US Border Patrol and then visit a newly built section of the wall. For those interested in spending the night, we have blocked off a group of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express. Check out all the details on our calendar at www.RidersUSA.net. Cages will convoy behind the bikes. MARCH 2019 RidersUSA’s Monthly Newsletter PAGE 3 Get our newsletter delivered to your email each month. Become a member at www.RidersUSA.net “As Smooth Sees It” by Keith Lefevbre “Rambling Thoughts” I was sitting here thinking about my 13-year-old kid earlier today and the challenges that lie in front of him that he has no idea exist but that I see all around him. You see, I think about him a lot because he is my focus as I get older. I realize that he truly is the one thing I will leave behind that can make an impact on the world. As I was pondering these things, I asked myself “What is the single biggest threat to his future?” The answer that popped into my mind is the growing trend of Socialism with the youth of the United Sates. And don’t be fooled, there is in fact a growing trend. Some polls estimate that Socialism has climbed up the ranks of popularity since 2010, when 53% of liberals held a positive view of it. That proportion is now 57%. Their estimation of capitalism, however, has plummeted. In 2016, 56% of people on the left thought well of capitalism; now, just 47% do–the lowest the ideology has ever polled among liberals. And the ad reality is that we have no one to blame but ourselves as parents and conservatives. We delivered our children and grandchildren into the hands of unionized public schools run by leftist administrators, with their dumbed-down, biased curricula. We sat back and watched Common Core slip into our schools and remained silent. We sit them in front of TVs and computer screens, without paying attention to the nonstop message of civilizational self-loathing they are fed from the mainstream media. Is it any surprise that the millennial generation sees socialism as an answer to all the world's shortcomings? After all, its utopian ideals of total equality and an end to human want are appealing to young people. Young people today can’t see past a 10 second sound bite or a 30 second YouTube video. They are bombarded by messages of political correctness, fairness, equality and diversity leading them to believe that everything they need in life will be given to them because that’s the “fair” thing to do. We have to do better for our youth, we must instill the message that “life isn’t always fair”. If we don’t, we are surely doomed as a Republic. Recently I sat down with my son and helped him do some work on his “Citizenship in The Nation” Merit Badge for Boy Scouts and we were able to discuss the Constitution in more detail that we ever had before. It occurred to me watching him learn about the Bill of Rights and the roles of the branches of government that he was getting more of an education on what makes the United States the greatest country ……….continued on page 4 ACTION ALERT Arizona Voters Arizona Senate Bill SB1217 has been sent to the House for consideration. In short, this bill, if it were to become law, undermines the intent of the 2006 Voter Approved! Proposition 300, which eliminated "In-State Tuition" for those that do not have "lawful immigration status” in the United States. 71.4% (over 1 MILLION people) of Arizona voters agreed with Prop 300, and now, the spirit of this law and the people’s voices will be negated if SB1217 becomes law. We encourage all our members to contact the Arizona House Membership and ask them to vote NO on SB1217! MARCH 2019 RidersUSA’s Monthly Newsletter PAGE 4 THE WRAP UP AS SMOOTH SEES IT continued from page 3 on earth at our kitchen table than he ever would in the schools he attended.

  • Legislative Update
Week of February 8th to February 12th, 2021 Legislative Update February 12th is the 33rd day of the legislative session and 1,707 bills have been introduced, 29 bills have passed both chambers and five bills have been signed by the Governor. 100 more bills have been introduced this session over last. The City of Scottsdale staff are currently tracking 125 bills that have potential impact to municipal functions. Legislative Action: Monday was the last day for the introduction of bills for this year totaling 1,707 bills. Additional bills will be allowed introduction for completion of the state budget and for extenuating circumstances. Next week will be the last week to hear bills in the committees in the house of origin (House bills in the House, Senate bills in the Senate) with exceptions for Rules and Appropriations committees. We expect to see lengthy committee agendas and long hearings. Scottsdale’s Water Remediation Legislation The City’s water remediation bill, SB 1366, passed both the Senate Rules Committee and its first vote on the Senate floor. We anticipate SB 1366 will receive its final vote in the Senate in the near future. Thus far, the bill has received unanimous support and there is no known opposition. Short-term Rental Legislation Two short-term rental bills have now passed their respective committees. SB 1379, which is viewed as being supported by representatives of the short-term rental industry, and HB 2481 which is supported by local governments. Mayor Ortega testified in support of HB 2481 on Wednesday and the bill passed the House Government & Elections committee with a vote of 8-5.
