The fights will be shown live at Shelly’s Lounge on Saturday, February 28 at 7 p.m. Chris Weidman is the current middleweight champion, and is undefeated since entering the UFC in 2009. He has defended his title twice, most recently defeating Lyoto Machida in July. Weidman was a two-time JUCO All-America wrestler and a U.S. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Champion. Belfort, the challenger, is a former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion. He previously competed in Japan’s PRIDE Fighting Championships and also had one bout as a professional boxer, where he won by technical knockout (TKO) within the first minute. The card also features a women’s Bantamweight Title fight between Rousey and Zingano. Rousy is the first and current UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion, and became the first American woman to win an Olympic medal in Judo in 2008. Zingano was the first woman to win a UFC fight by TKO in 2013. The bouts take place at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. UFC 184 will be shown live on Saturday, February 28 at Shelly’s Lounge. On 2/28, Holly Holm and Ronda Rousey were the two co-headliners on a show at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. The idea was that Holm, a former world boxing champion, would impressively knock out Raquel Pennington, a .500 level fighter who was known for exchanging blows and not taking her down. Rousey was there to face Cat Zingano, a fight that was supposed to be the hardest one of her career. Holm looked unimpressive, barely squeaking by in a split decision. Rousey beat Zingano with an armbar in 14 seconds.
