Since the forming of the Athletic Facilities Department, Northeastern's athletic venues have hosted several high profile events including the Field Hockey NCAA Final Four Tournament held at Parsons Field, the IC4A track and field championships held at Solomon Track and Field facility in Dedham, the baseball playoff series at Friedman Diamond, and several national skating shows including "Nancy Kerrigan and Friends" and the U.S. Professional Championships held at Matthews Arena. The Athletic Facilities Department works closely with the Athletics Department to meet the athletes' and fans' expectations for top quality, well maintained facilities.

Regarding community partnerships, Jack has developed a successful relationship with the Town of Brookline to ensure the future of varsity sports events at Parsons Field. He also brokered an agreement with the City of Boston to gain the use of Clemente Field on the Back Bay Fens for Northeastern's intramural teams.

With respect to sponsorship of athletics' related fundraisers, Jack has always been a generous donor and has worked diligently as a fundraiser to generate support for Northeastern sports initiatives from outside contractors and professional associates who do business with the University.

Over the years Jack has managed his staff as a seasoned coach would. He believes in tapping the potential of all who work for him and never settles for less than the best. He has modeled his leadership style after the great Vince Lombardi and counts among his favorite Lombardi quotes the following: "The harder you work, the harder it is to lose." and "The will to excel and the will to win, they endure. They are more important than any events that occasion them." For Jack Martin, a superior work ethic and the will to excel have shaped his impressive career.

Jack Martin has served under four Northeastern presidents. He understands the importance of varsity sports to the vibrancy of a world class university. He has shown his commitment to athletics by proposing that the construction, renovation, expansion and upkeep of athletic facilities be a priority of each administration. Jack Martin's record shows that he is a true champion of Northeastern University athletics.
