Hawaii 96813 (808J 548-8960 4 ASSOCIATION OF HAWAIIAN CIVIC CLUBS P. O. Box 1135 • Honolulu, Hawaii 96807 Aloha Kakou, This Convention marks a significant milestone in the life of our Great Association. It is in acknowledgement of Twenty Five years of growth and accomplishments that I proudly welcome each of you on our Silver Anniversary. Fullfilling the Second Year as your President has been a great learnillg experience for me and my family. In these past two years each of us has watched ourselves and our association grow together1 and together is the important word here. It is an appropriate word because it not only explains how we have been able to come this far, but it is also a key word in this years theme, "'A'OHE HANA NUl KE ALU 'IA", No Task is too Big When Done TOGETHER by All. With this theme we profess our faith to the future growth and development of our family. Our organization has come a long way in the past Twenty Five Years. Growing from a Fledgling organization of the Oahu District Council with eighty-three delegates, to a well recognized and respected Association of Four Districts (soon to be five) and over two hundered and fifty delegates. An Association whose heritage is sterling and marked by outstanding contributions to the Hawaiian people in education, legislation, government and community affairs. We have achieved these accomplishments because The Association of Hawaiian Civic Clubs is a very positive and stimulating organization which keeps an eye to the future. My family and I are particularly pleased to be a part of this productive and unique Association. As we look forward with new visions for our Hawaiian Community, we must remember that there has never been a nation or organization of any type which has ever achieved greatness that was not united in its people and their cause. In my president's message last year I stated, "Hawaiian people have changed and yet still manage to remain the same, moving into the modern times but still holding on to our unique ways." What I meant then, and reaffirm today, is that we can maintain our unique differences as ind~viduals and as a people and yet remain united in committment to our causes. So I ask each of you to strive this next year and in years to come to live up to this years theme of "accomplishment together". It has worked for us for Twenty Five Years, let's make it work for the next Twenty Five.
